A leading climate change scientist said hackers breaking into a university's computer server and then posting documents online show the nasty politics of global warming.

The aftermath isn’t yet upon us. We are still in the in situ-math. But I thought it would be fun anyway to make some definite, testable predictions of what will happen given the CRU-cliimategate / warmergate emails and files release. These are prognostications, not desires. Obviously, they might not be right. 1. Even George Monbiot, one of the fiercest media propagandists of the warming faith, admits he should have been more sceptical and says the science now needs to be rechecked:

This morning Graeme Campbell, former Member of Parliament for Kalgoorlie, was waiting outside the Senate entrance to Parliament House. There was no evidence of conspiracy among climate scientists in the leaked emails – so why was the University of East Anglia's response so pathetic? A lot of the posting about the CRU document hack revolves around how it will play in the press. There is a certain amount of cynicism that, because of the investment in AGW, the press and politicians tied to its cause will ignore or explain away the documents as best as possible. Let me bake this down for everyone. In other words, the temperature proxy didn't match the real temperature record after 1960. The temperature proxy is the very basis for climate models using the CRU data. If the proxy is crap, the model is too that it is based on. Other models may be correct but their methods aren't exposed here. Also, we should note, they don't show the end of the world predictions that the CRU data shows. So were they hyping it? You betcha!

Former Australian of the year and Copenhagen Climate Council chairman Tim Flannery says leaked emails from a British university's climate research unit should not encourage scepticism on global warming. A few days ago computer hackers stole private emails and research documents from the University of East Anglia. In one of the leaked emails, respected US climatologist Kevin Trenberth admits that scientists cannot account for the lack of global warming to date.

If there is one thing that the case of the hacked climate-change e-mails proves, it is that scientists are human. And humans do stupid things. Because no matter what the context or motivation, some e-mails should never be written:
