The night Christine O'Donnell won the GOP nomination for Senate in Delaware, party stalwart Karl Rove flipped out, and warned that she was a liar, of ill-character, and generally not the kind of person that the party should get behind. It only took an instant for other party leaders like Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin to flip out right back at him. But why did Rove take this tack? It's not because he's not into right-wingers

I just de-friended Karl Rove. I don't understand his stand on the Delaware Primary. You should have seen the posts to him regarding this. It was not pretty.

Karl Rove answered his critics today on Fox News, where — as Rove notes — he works as a political analyst. His outside job, Rove explains, focuses on political campaigning, organizing, and fundraising. Maybe he should have thought of that before his big rant against Christine O'Donnell on primary night. Here he is mending fences. It is true that he has raised a lot of money for Sharron Angle and some other Tea Party candidates with his American Crossroads group. Sometimes he helps and though he deserves no credit for it he unwittingly helped Christine O'Donnell by stirring up the grassroots who were angered by his anti-O'Donnell rant.
