Old Sam Donaldson is back in the news. You remember Sam, don't you? Physically, he tends to remind one of an eagle. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have the vision of one - particularly in regard to our future. Here's what Sam had to say last weekend: "It's the Tea Party and thinking of the Tea Party and people like that that are driving the Republicans out of contention as a national party. You cannot win nationally if you don't know something about the way the country's changed, and the Tea Party seems to think the country can go back...

A former network reporter was recently arrested for DUI here at the beach. Former ABC News political reporter Sam Donaldson was pulled over on Savannah Road by Lewes Police on December 1 for a traffic violation. An officer says that he’d been drinking. Donaldson failed field sobriety tests, and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He’s been scheduled for a court appearance at a later date.

As NewsBusters reported Saturday, former ABC White House correspondent Sam Donaldson told the Huffington Post, "Many on the political right believe this president [Barack Obama] ought not to be there – they oppose him not for his polices [sic] and political view but for who he is, an African American! These people and perhaps even certain news organizations (certainly the right wing talkers like Limbaugh) encourage disrespect for this president." Limbaugh responded to this nonsense by email moments ago: "Sam's premise, sadly, is ignorant, simplistic, clichéd, predictable and wrong. The President's ideas are what I oppose, not his skin color,...

In a recent combination basketball practice/softball interview with CBS's Harry Smith, President Barack Obama sought to blame certain media personalities for the low opinion many Americans have of him and his policies. "Well, I think that when you listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, it's pretty apparent, and it's troublesome, but keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of vitriol comes out." This moment from the otherwise snoozer of an interview shows not only this president's knee-jerk reaction to blame someone else for any bad news, but also the cowardly way he...

Donaldson Joins Couric: Warns GOP of Limbaugh, Beck & Palin (Video) Sunday, November 8, 2009 Jim Hoft Sam Donaldson on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday warns Republicans not to follow the lead of Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck: Let me tell you that the wake-up call for the Republicans was the New York’s 23rd. The Securities and Exchange Commission can blame itself for the current crisis. That is the allegation being made by a former SEC official, Lee Pickard, who says a rule change in 2004 led to the failure of Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, and Merrill Lynch...... My Comment: Worth Noting, this disastrous move was initiated by Bill Donaldson (former SEC Chair and Obama supporter). Also, when the Dems tried to endorse it later in the Senate Banking Committee, it was opposed by all Republicans and supported by all the D's on the Committee.

OLD JOESen. Joe Lieberman has already turned down two jobs offered by President Bush, so why not go for a trifecta? Lieberman again tops a list of folks being considered for head of the new national intelligence directorate, a job that Lieberman might actually have to seriously consider. He smartly turned down the Homeland Security chief job, and the U.N. ambassadorship just wasn't big enough for him, even if he would have been given an opportunity to work on the Middle East peace process a bit. But Lieberman did take on a large role in shaping the national intelligence legislation,...

Democratic pundits still scratch their heads as they try and figure out what the recent presidential election tells them. They believe that voters rejected the messenger, rather than the message. But how many different ways can they come up with to tax, spend, regulate and redistribute the wealth? Democrats think your money belongs to the government. If you have a lot, goes the Democratic ideology, you married it, inherited it, cheated for it, found it or lucked into it.

It isn't often that a Securities and Exchange Commission chairman has the ability to unite against him -- his own White House, fellow GOP commissioners, leading financial lights in Congress and Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan. But Bill Donaldson is nothing if not determined. The SEC chief has devoted much of the past year to promoting a new regulation that would force hedge fund advisers to register with his agency, despite opposition from just about anyone who knows a hurdle rate from a drawdown. Most recently, his staff conducted a short "comment" period on the rule when most of the...

BOSTON, July 27 /U.S. Newswire/ -- ABC veteran reporter Sam Donaldson was confronted by Operation Rescue West's Truth Trucks on the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Boston. Donaldson was crossing the street at a traffic light just a few feet in front of one of the Truth Trucks when ORW president Troy Newman spotted him entering a rally hosted by Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt. Newman pulled out his bullhorn and said to Donaldson, "Look at the babies," referring to the graphic images of aborted children that were displayed on the Truth Truck's billboard-sized panels. "It's time to...

The Bush White House is being mean to Sam Donaldson - he says they make him take second-tier guests for his Sunday Morning show as the price of getting top names ... he calls it "blackmail". At the same time, Democrats are whining that that cable TV is being mean to them by showcasing White House Republicans and ignoring Congressional Democrats. According to the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz, Donaldson, co-host of ABC's "This Week," complains that administration officials use their leverage to push "second-tier" guests by saying, " 'If you don't take so-and-so, you might find it difficult next week.'...

The latest hot rumor on Capitol Hill this week has ABC's "This Week" host Sam Donaldson seeking a U.S. Senate seat in his home state of New Mexico. "The bombastic newsman," as the New York Post described him Thursday, "is rumored to be on his way out of ABC's weak Sunday political chat show," prompting Donaldson to seek greener pastures. In an update Friday, the paper noted that the Senate was all abuzz over prospects for a Senator Sam. As Donaldson was talking to a Post reporter, Montana Sen. Conrad Burns rushed up demanding to know, "Are you running, Sam?...

ABC Radio Networks, crowing about its growing success in talk radio, toasted at a recent dinner to two of its new hosts, Sean Hannity of Fox New Channel and Sam Donaldson of ABC News. The two sparred before the crowd at the Newseum in Rosslyn, Va., "with Donaldson insisting he is the conservative," Mediaweek reports. "This came as news to Hannity," the magazine says. And to everyone else.
