The New York Times published these excellent visual representations of yesterday’s election results, including analyses based upon before and after polling. And they are pretty stunning. Results on the 35 Senate races: The Democrats won each seat they were expected to win, as did Republicans, including Louisiana, which will have a run-off on December 6th, as both candidates were under 50%. Of the 7 toss-up races, Republicans won 6, their only loss being in New Hampshire. Fifteen states held no Senate election. Net change of +7 for the Republicans. Results on the House races:

Recess is in full force in Washington, D.C., as national lawmakers vacation around the country, but both political parties are fighting intense political battles on the ground in states nationwide as several statehouses are up for grabs in what’s shaping up to be a landslide pro-GOP election year. “Republicans, who had appeared to hit a high-water mark in control of statehouses in recent years, are seeking to pick off another half-dozen chambers this year, taking advantage of President Obama’s persistent unpopularity, anxiety about the economy, and a history of anemic turnout among Democrats in nonpresidential election years,” the New York...

WASHINGTON - On Nov. 4, Americans will vote in the midterm elections that for all intents and purposes will be a referendum on Barack Obama's unpopular presidency. Obama's name won't be on the ballot, but he will be on the minds of many if not most voters when they go into the voting booths to decide who'll be in charge of Congress for the next two years. A lot can happen between now and then, but a growing number of top political analysts who've studied the polls in key Senate races think Obama's deepening unpopularity may end the Democrats' control...

As we head into the 2014 midterm elections, one thing is certain: Class warfare will be the campaign stage again — it is the only way this president knows how to win, by dividing and conquering — with the tea party, Main Street and businesses large and small cast as the villains. Income inequity will be 2014's attack line for Obama and Democrats, this election cycle's class-warfare rhetoric. The first example is their pledge to rebuild the middle class with a minimum-wage increase. Republicans always get pegged for their supposed fidelity to the rich and to Wall Street. But the...
  • Artur Davis reportedly considering Republican House bid in Virginia

Former Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.) might run for Congress in 2014 — possibly as a Republican. BuzzFeed reports that the conservative Democrat is looking at challenging Rep. Gerry Connolly (D) in 2014. The Fix reached out to Davis via email and the man who sought the 2010 Democratic nomination for governor in the Yellow Hammer State was very careful to leave the door open to another bid — possibly from the other side of the partisan aisle. “I do receive encouragement from friends to join the Republican Party and to get into politics in the [northern Virginia] area, but I...
