(And you wonder why Britain is in trouble ....) After just one day of classes at her summer school of choice, Emily Birkenshaw had already learned a crucial lesson: how to "go floppy" when facing arrest. "You're heavier then, so you can't be carried," she said, with the genuine delight of a new recruit. The 24-year-old been practising by linking arms with her classmates and singing loudly at a pretend policeman. "It just felt really empowering," she said. (CNSNews.com) – A March 7 White House meeting with President Barack Obama hosted by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for several dozen Wall Street executives also included several big-money Obama fundraisers. The meeting, which White House Spokesman Jay Carney said “was not a fundraiser” included many big-money donors known as bundlers, a moniker derived from the fact that they solicit large contributions on behalf of a campaign. The attendees were, according to Politico, all prominent 2008 Obama donors. However, half of them were bundlers for his 2012 reelection effort as well. The 2012 bundlers are listed below according to the...

Despite the promise that President Obama's first Facebook town hall would open a new level of two-way communication with his constituents, social-networking technology didn't add much to the conversation. Obama answered just eight questions during Wednesday's hour-long session at Facebook's secondary headquarters building in Palo Alto Facebook employees who won a company lottery for the chance to sit in the live audience. That left hundreds of questions posted on the event's Facebook wall unanswered. Judging from comments posted on Facebook after the event, viewers noticed. "Not bad, but not great," wrote Rose Berendes. "How could there not have been a...

The very real threat of a terrorist incident is something that we as Americans have been increasingly forced to prepare for in the post 9/11 world. (Snip) Due to public indignation over the obvious political agenda of the “anti-terror” exercise, local organizers decided to cancel the event. The official response to charges of a carefully crafted political bias in the scenario was predictable. “In no way has our office or any other response agencies favored a political view

The young black gent in the wheelchair raised a fist and shouted “Amen.” The middle aged Hispanic woman, homemade sign overhead, applauded and said “Get rid of them all!” The lady with the butch-cut hair, and her girl friend waving a rainbow flag, said “We’ve had enough.” The teenage girl, bouncing on her toes held a single tea bag aloft. What a bunch of racist homophobes. ... I chatted with a candidate named Adnan Shahab, which is about as un-Anglo Saxon as one can get without immigrating from another planet. I overheard a woman who carried a sign reading “I’m...

Any commemoration in the Knesset of the anniversary of Rabbi Meir Kahane's assassination would be harmful to the peace process, the US Embassy told The Jerusalem Post Wednesday. The American comments came after the Post obtained a series of e-mails in which an embassy official told Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin's office that the possibility of such a ceremony was "something that Senator [George] Mitchell and his team are following with concern."
