 A Five-Seven pistol was successfully used for self defense in Arkansas on April 13, 2015.  More than 20 rounds were fired, 20 of them being fired by a permit holder armed with what appears to be an FN 5.7 pistol.  The casing on the left is being held by Henry Richards, who witnessed some of the gunfight.  If you look at the casing closely, it is clear that it is a 5.7.  The identifying characteristics are the rimless base shown by the extractor groove on the bottom, and the beginning of the bottleneck shown at the top.  An additional...

Originally announced in 1995, after having been under development for some years prior, the Five-seveN pistol was planned for production in 1998. However, it wasn’t until the 2004 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT Show) last February that civilian models were readily exhibited, and the pistol had changed slightly from the original conception. Democrats in Congress have introduced a bill to outlaw a specific gun, which a leading gun control group describes as "a clear and present threat to police officers" and "a tragedy waiting to happen." The bills introduced in the House and Senate on Thursday (H.R. 800/S. 397) would make it illegal for anyone except a police officer or military official to possess a Fabrique Nationale (FN) Five-seveN pistol, which can shoot armor-piercing bullets.
