‘Cheer up, you’re worse than you think,” Rev. Timothy Keller says with a smile. He’s explaining that humans are more weak, more fallen, more warped than they “ever dare admit or even believe.” Then comes the good news: At the same time people are “more loved in Christ and more accepted than they could ever imagine or hope.” Do you know many New Yorkers who believe that? Perhaps not, but on Sundays some 5,500 city folk file into the church Mr. Keller founded 25 years ago, Redeemer Presbyterian, at eight packed services across three Manhattan locations, the Greenwich Village campus...

Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke in sober terms at a news conference on Saturday at Woodhull Hospital after two police officers were shot and killed in Brooklyn. It is the sequence that every mayor dreads: the ominous report, the scramble to the hospital and the confirmation that, yes, an attack against the police has proved fatal. But for Mayor Bill de Blasio, the tragedy on Saturday — when two police officers were shot and killed in an ambush in Brooklyn, according to the authorities — arrived at a particularly trying moment, amid an already fractious relationship with the police. Police...

Gotnews.com has confirmed the Muslim supremacist ideology of Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley, the NYPD Brooklyn cop killer. Brinsley’s Facebook page has been removed but not before Gotnews.com team of researchers harvested his social media accounts. The picture above is of Quranic verse 8:60, “strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah…” He also spoke Arabic.

Participants in the Justice For All March on Dec. 13, 2014 in Washington, DC.A week ago, the NAN offices were busy with activity. We were planning for the Justice For All March that took place on December 13. The march was successful and turned out exponentially more people than we anticipated – some estimates say approximately 40,000. But more importantly, we had the families of Eric Garner, Mike Brown, John Crawford, Tamir Rice, Akai Gurley, Trayvon Martin and Amadou Diallo present. These families know the unfortunate realities of a justice system that may be blindfolded, but seems to always peek...

Four down, two to go. A fourth suspect wanted for allegedly assaulting police officers during last weekend’s Millions March NYC protests surrendered to cops Saturday afternoon, just hours after a fellow cop-basher did the same, authorities said. Cindy Gorn, 29 — “Female Suspect No. 2” — is a grad student at Columbia University who walked into Manhattan’s Fifth Precinct station house with her lawyer at 12:30 p.m., sources said. The NYPD circulated video images of six people who the department says attacked officers as the Dec. 13 demonstrations made their way to the Brooklyn Bridge. The six suspects allegedly prevented...

Many are blaming the murder of two New York City cops on Saturday afternoon on Mayor Bill de Blasio following his recent support for protesters in the city marching in opposition to a grand jury's decision to not indict the police officer who killed Eric Garner. Hundreds have taken to social media to say that de Blasio has 'blood on his hands' and should 'be charged with murder' after the two men were killed 'execution style' in Brooklyn. What's more, many feel that de Blasio should not attend the officers' funerals, this after many members of the NYPD signed a...

Our city is hurting, we are hurting. Today we mourn the loss of two NYPD officers who were gunned down in a vicious act of senseless violence. As soon as news broke of the tragedy in Brooklyn, I spoke with both the families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. And let me be perfectly clear, we are all outraged and saddened by the deaths of these police officers. Any use of the names of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, in connection with any violence or killing of police, is reprehensible and against the pursuit of justice in both cases. At...

ONE WEEK AGO— Several thousand protesters marched in New York City on Saturday. The protesters were part of Al Sharpton’s “Million Marchers” protest against police violence. The protesters chanted “What do we want?… Dead cops!” as they marched in New York City. Via Breitbart.com:(VIDEO-AT-LINK)Of course, the media will give this bunch a pass. After all, they’re not those violent Tea Party protesters. NEW YORK – A gunman who announced online that he was planning to shoot two “pigs” in retaliation for the police chokehold death of Eric Garner ambushed two officers in a patrol car and shot them to death in broad daylight Saturday before running to a subway station and killing himself, authorities said. The suspect, 28-year-old Ismaaiyl Brinsley, wrote on an Instagram account: “I’m putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours, let’s take 2 of theirs,” officials said. He used the hashtags Shootthepolice RIPErivGardner (sic) RIPMikeBrown...

Mayor de Blasio held court on Friday with ringleaders of the city protests that have led to cop assaults and other mayhem — lending a sympathetic ear as they ticked off their demands. Hizzoner had tried to keep the location of his meeting with the members of Justice League NYC a secret, but reporters discovered it was at the Midtown offices of a union connected to the one that employs a man charged with busting an NYPD lieutenant’s nose on the Brooklyn Bridge. “They have a list of demands, some which I agree with, some which I don’t,” de Blasio...

It’s hard to believe people would cheer the murder of two cops, but stubborn crime in the projects makes people think the police don’t care. After the crack of gunfire echoed down Myrtle Avenue where several public buildings that make up the Tompkins Houses, several neighbors raced toward the bloody crime scene. One 30-year-old local who gave his first name only as Carlos, didn’t hear the gunfire but saw the hysteria and walked to the police tape. And he couldn’t believe his eyes or ears. He didn’t see shock or sorrow but glee and jubilation.

Attorney General Eric Holder condemned the “senseless” shooting of two New York City police Saturday, and pledged the full resources of the Justice Department to assist in the investigation of the ambush killings. “This was an unspeakable act of barbarism, and I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of these two brave officers in the line of duty,” Holder said in a statement. “On behalf of all those who serve in the United States Department of Justice, I want to express my heartfelt condolences to the officers' loved ones and colleagues.” A White House official confirmed that President...

The police union for the New York Police department issued the following statement earlier today. FROM NYC PBA: Starting IMMEDIATELY- At least two units are to respond to EVERY call, no matter the condition or severity, no matter what type of job is pending, or what the opinion of the patrol supervisor happens to be. IN ADDITION: Absolutely NO enforcement action in the form of arrests and or summonses is to be taken unless absolutely necessary and an individual MUST be placed under arrest. It was just last night that a handful of supporters of the New York Police Department attempted to hold a #ThankYouNYPD rally. The group was easily outnumbered by protesters, who taunted them and likened the gathering to a Klan rally. Just days before that, police haters hijacked a #BlueLivesMatter hashtag, while others were caught on video at the #MillionsMarchNYC chanting, “What do we want? Dead cops!” With news just coming in that two New York City police officers were reportedly ambushed in their patrol car and shot execution-style, it’s not surprising that the anti-cop contingent is coming out to proudly...
