Derisive monikers often ‘are code words for something else,’ Dem strategist says ANALYSIS — President Donald Trump had the friendly crowd at a simmer during a campaign rally Tuesday evening in Tampa, Florida. Then the showman in chief dropped two words that sent them into a raucous boil: “Crooked Hillary.” Trump had long pivoted away from the man he was ostensibly there to boost in his no-longer-long-shot bid for the Republican nomination for governor, Florida Rep. Ron DeSantis. Trump was touting Trump. Just before employing the derisive moniker that helped him vanquish his 2016 general election foe, Trump was boasting...

Republican, Marsha Blackburn wins the U.S. Senate primary copying the recent Georgia wipe out of Democrats. The Republicans, across the board, are amassing hundreds of thousands of votes more then Democrats. The Democrat vote turn out was dismal to say the least. Marsha Blackburn will be elected the next Senator of Tennessee Texas, Florida, Georgia & now Tennessee will be "bright red" come election day in November, 2018.

A group of South American lizards that can grow up to four feet long (1.2 meters) has established a home in the Florida wild after being brought to the United States as pets, and the reptiles could begin a voracious march across the U.S. South, according to a new study. Tegu lizards, which currently live in two large colonies in Florida, could expand into an area from the Carolinas to Central Texas, according to the scientific report published in July on the website for the journal Nature.

President Donald Trump has made it clear that immigration will be a major campaign issue for him, in both the midterm elections and in his own re-election bid, and that was evident at the president’s rally in Florida on Tuesday. “Republicans want strong borders and no crime. Democrats want open borders, which equals massive crime,” he said. “And on top of that, the Democrats…they’ve launched outrageous attacks on our incredible law enforcement officers and on ICE and our Border Patrol — can you believe it? People that keep us safe.” Trump said Democrats, in their pursuit of open borders, also...

It was about 11 p.m., an hour before the end of Emelia Holden’s waitress shift late last month, when she felt the hand grab her backside. Holden, 21, had just finished taking a customer’s order and placing a stack of menus on an unoccupied table in the small restaurant, Vinnie Van Go-Go’s pizzeria in Savannah, Ga. At first she thought it might have been her female co-worker, she recalled to local CBS affiliate WTOC. But as she turned around, she saw that it was a customer walking past her, a 31-year-old man police later identified as Ryan Cherwinski of Palm...
  • Vanity: Adam Putnam is a fraud

Adam Putnam is running for governor of Florida, against Ron DeSantis in the Republican primary. During Trump's campaign, he took some pretty vicious swings at Trump as he was a Jebby guy. Now that Putnam sees how popular Trump is, he's pretending he never said negative things about trump. We know that's a big lie. Now he's running repetitive ads in FLA that DeSantis wants to raise taxes by 23%. A whole lot of drama about how that will doom our state. It seems he's decided if he can trick the bulk of the low information voters they'll vote for...

For once, the most memorable thing about one of the president's rallies was not his baldfaced lies nor his attacks on reality. Rather, President Donald Trump's Tampa rally will be remembered for the reporting of CNN's Jim Acosta. He revealed more accurately than most what the Trump base, or at least part of it, looks and sounds like and what Trump must do to hold its attention. He tweeted: "Just a sample of the sad scene we faced at the Trump rally in Tampa. I'm very worried that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative media will...

CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta expressed concern on Tuesday with the way President Trump's supporters heckle members of the press, warning that the president's rhetoric could "result in somebody getting hurt." Acosta posted a video from Trump's rally in Tampa, Fla., on Tuesday showing supporters shouting down members of the press. At one point, one man in the crowd looks into the camera and yells, "stop lying." "Just a sample of the sad scene we faced at the Trump rally in Tampa," Acosta tweeted. "I’m very worried that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative...

Attendees at a rally for President Donald Trump swarmed behind CNN reporter Jim Acosta during his live shot on Tuesday, yelling 'liar,' 'tell the truth,' and 'CNN sucks' as the crowd egged them on. Trump has not yet arrived at the Florida State Fairgrounds Expo Hall where supporters are filling the building and the media are awaiting his arrival. A crowd of about 50 came up to the press area when they saw Acosta on the risers for his live shot to wave signs supporting Trump and yell 'CNN sucks' and 'Trump, Trump, Trump.' Some had written 'CNN sucks' with...

On Tuesday’s Andrea Mitchell Reports, two Florida politicians, a Republican and a Democrat, made back-to-back appearances to discuss gun control. Host Andrea Mitchell took a radically different tone with each interviewee – both of whom are seeking statewide elected office in 2018 – thus epitomizing MSNBC’s inescapable liberal bias. While speaking with Republican Florida State Representative Jay Fant, Mitchell assumed an adversarial role, grilling him on his recent vote against a measure to ban assault rifles. Throughout the brief interview, she argued that the Second Amendment was not absolute, citing the late Justice Scalia’s decision in the frequently-referenced District of...

MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell fretted Friday that the FBI's acknowledged error in not following up on a credible trip on Nikolas Cruz might serve as fodder for critics of the Russia investigation. In a statement, the FBI said Friday that "protocols were not followed" after someone contacted the bureau's Public Access Line on Jan. 5 with concerns about Cruz, who authorities say confessed to carrying out the Florida school shooting this week. The individual provided information in January about Cruz's desire to kill people, erratic behavior, disturbing social media posts, and potential to carry out a school shooting. The FBI...

According to the Real Clear Politics polling average of the race, Nelson is up 1.2 percent.

Billionaire conservative businessman Charles Koch’s political network is freezing out Republicans that it believes have violated its fiscally conservative principles, and is, at least for now, only supporting four Senate GOP candidates in the fall. The Koch network is backing GOP Senate candidates in Wisconsin, Missouri, Tennessee and Florida, signaling it will be selective in where it engages as Republicans seek to retain or grow their narrow 51-49 majority. At a Monday presentation to about 500 of the network’s top donors at a five-star resort in the Rocky Mountains, Americans for Prosperity president Tim Phillips made an example out of...

Hundreds of gun owners in Florida have been ordered to give up their guns under a new law that took effect after the deadly Parkland shooting in February, according to a report published Monday. The Risk Protection Order, signed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott just three weeks after a gunman killed 17 people at Stoneman Douglas, aims to temporarily remove weapons from gun owners who have been deemed by a judge to possibly be a threat to themselves or others.Roughly 200 firearms have been confiscated in the state since the law was enacted, Sgt. Jason Schmittendorf, of the Pinellas County...

I got my driver’s license renewal notice from the DMV the other day. This time, I was informed, I’d have to renew in person, although I could make the process easier by completing my application online. When I tried, however, I got an error message. I could not submit an online application if I wanted a license that was also a Real ID.

The case of a man who was accidentally shot to death by his girlfriend in her Bradenton home has come to light more than five months later. Despite the finding that the shooting was accidental and no charges were ever filed, a Bradenton police officer has been punished for among other reasons, not turning on her patrol car’s lights and sirens or displaying any other urgency in responding to the scene. Officer Amy Schwartz told internal affairs investigators she usually doesn’t activate her lights and sirens unless “there’s an officer down.” On the afternoon of Feb. 21, the Bradenton Police...
