A man was almost shot in the face after another person holding a gun swung a punch at him during a brawl outside a West Virginia University frat house. A fraternity at Cornell University has been placed on probation for conducting a sex contest members dubbed the "pig roast" in reference to the weight of women they slept with. The university said officials launched an investigation of the Zeta Beta Tau chapter last year after multiple reports about the secret game in which new members could get points by having sex with women.

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Two suspects were arrested and charged Friday in the fatal shooting of a New Jersey Institute of Technology student who was killed during a burglary at a fraternity house in Newark. ATHENS, Ga. -- A student was severely burned during a fraternity drinking ritual when an oil lantern ignited a bottle of nearly pure grain alcohol, police said. William Flynn Miller IV, 21, a senior at the University of Georgia, was drinking with other students at the Lambda Chi Alpha frat house early Tuesday, police said. <p>San Jose police are investigating four Internet messages, full of violent threats and profanity, that one of the fraternities involved in last month's deadly brawl may have sent to the other just hours before their midnight clash.</p> <p>The e-mail threats, two of which claim to be from rival fraternity Lambda Phi Epsilon, may offer a glimpse into the depth of the animosity between the two Asian-American fraternities, which erupted in a deadly rumble Jan. 22 at San Jose's Flickinger Park.</p>

<p>Lambda Phi Epsilon, one of the San Jose State University fraternities involved in last month's fatal brawl, was suspended four years ago for hazing pledges and was investigated last year after a fight with a rival fraternity, university officials revealed Friday.</p>
