There are a lot of interesting tidbits to be found in the tell-all penned by Frank Bailey, an aide to Sarah Palin while she was governor of Alaska, which draws on Bailey's firsthand experiences and Palin's own e-mails. GOP Rep. Paul Broun (Ga.) rebuked President Obama using perhaps the sharpest language among his Republican colleagues following the State of the Union address Tuesday night. Broun took to Twitter during the address, accusing the president of believing in socialism. Obama touched on several economic themes during his address, emphasizing the need for the U.S. to be competitive in the global marketplace. "Mr. President, you don't believe in the Constitution. Two African-American Democrats on Thursday announced that they were joining the Republican Party.

Rep. Jim Marshall (D-Ga.) is down 13 points, 37 percent to 50, against Republican Austin Scott, with 10 percent of likely voters undecided, according to The Hill 2010 Midterm Election Poll. Ironically, voters give the four-term lawmaker high marks: Forty-five percent rated him favorably, compared to the 40 percent who rated him unfavorably. Scott had higher ratings, however, with 50 percent giving him favorable marks compared to 19 percent who didn’t. It was a welcome and unexpected phone call for Ray McKinney. Earlier this week, the Republican nominee for the U.S. House 12th District seat got a call from Sarah Palin’s office telling him the former Alaskan governor and GOP vice-presidential nominee was endorsing his campaign. “We can count on Ray McKinney to be a strong, independent voice for Georgia’s 12th Congressional District,” Palin wrote on her Facebook page. “As Ray says, ‘If you like the way things are going now, vote for the other guy.’” For the complete story, see Friday's edition of the Effingham Herald.

Republican candidate for Governor Karen Handel announced that former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will campaign on her behalf in Georgia. Palin will help Handel campaign ahead of the the August 10, 2010 runoff election against Nathan Deal.
