The year 1968 was one of the mst discouraging in modern US history. The Vietnam War dragged on. Despite major civil rights bills, many people feared the country was turning "increasingly seperate and unequal." The nation grieved over the assassinations of Martin Luther King JR. and Robert Kennedy. Riots filled the streets.
  • Biblical Creation: Religious Myth or Historical Narrative?

Mention the Bible in a room of people, and there will be numerous views on it. Some will consider it a bunch of stories written by men who wished to make a moral point. Others will view it as God’s religious guidebook for life. Yet others will accept it as the literal, written word of God Himself. How the Bible is viewed becomes especially important when looking at the Genesis account of creation. Can we trust that what was recorded in Genesis is an actual historical narrative? Or is it just a religious myth? None of us were there as...

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:26a, 17 KJV) According to the Theory of Evolution, man evolved from primates about 5 million years ago. In high school biology class we were taught about fossils and science’s search for the “missing link,” the point where apes became human. However, it’s been 120 years since Darwin penned his theory, and the fossil record – which is now fairly complete – has yet to...

Featured Term (selected at random):REBEKAH Daughter of Bethuel and sister of Laban. Abraham did not want his son Isaac to marry a Canaanite, so he sent a trusted servant to the land of his kinfolk to choose a suitable wife. The servant prayed to Yahweh for guidance, and Rebekah proved to be the maid who met Yahweh's specifications. Rebekah's family rejoiced at the selection and she willingly returned with the servant and married Isaac (Genesis 25:24-28). Jacob was her favorite. When the aged, blind Isaac prepared to give his blessing (which involved rights of inheritance) to Esau, Rebekah and Jacob...

From the book of Genesis: Gen 2:18-24 18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." 19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the...

Having made what he says is a musical swan song with his R&B covers album "Going Back," Phil Collins' next project will be in the book world -- and situated deep in the heart of Texas. Collins tells Billboard.com that he's in the midst of writing a book about his extensive collection of Alamo and Texas Revolution artifacts, stemming from an interest in the topic that started when he saw the Walt Disney film "Davy Crockett" as a child. "It's a huge collection of memorabilia from the Alamo and before and after it, basically the Texas Revolution in general," explains...
  • Ken Ham at it Again: Assembly of God Church has Joined Compromisers

    09/12/2010 4:43:31 PM PDT · by truthfinder9 · 67 replies
Ken Ham and his "Answers in Genesis" have been long criticized for their attacks on Christians who don't agree with his Genesis interpretation, his misrepresentation of what those people believe and Ham/AiG's complete lack of anything resembling biblical scholarship. So now they attack the Assemblies of God churches (http://blogs.answersingenesis.org/blogs/ken-ham/2010/09/08/a-sad-day-for-the-assemblies-of-god-denomination/) for not latching on to the uncritical AiG beliefs. Hopefully, the AoG are simply trying to work through the issues at a scholarly level (something AiG cannot seem to do) and won't follow the current trend of some Christians in accepting theistic evolution. It is the fault of people like Ken...
