Indonesian rock art is decaying at an alarming rate due to the effects of climate change, researchers said. This includes a picture of a wild pig drawn 45,500 years ago on the island of Sulawesi - said to be the world's oldest animal cave painting. Other cave motifs in the region depicting hunting scenes and supernatural beings have also crumbled faster as temperatures increase. The findings signal that more needs to be done to preserve the priceless art. "[These pieces of art are] disappearing before our eyes," study lead Dr Jillian Huntley, from the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural...

The presumptive heir to the British throne (some of us hold the hope that his mother will make arrangements to skip over him) Prince Charles keeps switching the deadline for saving humanity from the imaginary threat of man-made global warming. The new “drop dead” date is even more urgent than previous ones issued from his palace. James Delingpole of Breitbart: The Prince of Wales has warned global leaders that if we don’t tackle climate change in 18 months the human race will go extinct. No, really. Here are his actual words, in a speech in London yesterday to foreign ministers...

A patient was left with a phone bill of £127 after being left hanging on the line for 49 minutes to make a hospital appointment. Wayne Marshall, 30, was left fuming after spending nearly an hour on the phone to the outpatients' department of Broomfield Hospital. But he was gobsmacked when he discovered the two calls had landed him with a bill of £127 for just trying to rearrange his appointment. "But when I looked at my bill online I was absolutely flabbergasted. I would have thought it would have been no more than a few quid even with all...

CRADLING the baby she never knew was growing inside her, 13-year-old Charlotte Maddox still cannot believe she is a mum. For months after sleeping with a boy of 15 she dismissed fleeting pains as a tummy bug and thought she was "a bit podgy" because of overeating. Her parents noticed nothing unusual. Then two weeks ago, racked in pain, Charlotte went into labour with baby Sophie - and at last the astonishing truth dawned. She said yesterday: "I was screaming in pain and shouted 'I've got to push something, it's coming!' "That was the first time I realised I was...

IN A stinging attack on the Israeli government, the moderator of the Church of Scotland's General Assembly, David Lacy, has accused the Jewish state of "theft" by constructing its highly controversial separation barrier inside the Palestinian territories. On a two-week trip to Israel and the Palestinian territories, the Rt Rev Lacy said his visit to the West Bank town of Bethlehem - just south of Jerusalem and now separated by an eight-metre concrete barrier - had left him "gobsmacked". I was very much in sympathy with why the Israelis built a wall here, and still am to a certain extent,"...

Some given free tickets walk out before the end, reports Jonathan PetreThey emerged from the cinema whey-faced, red-eyed and numb: whatever their expectations had been, the first members of the public to see Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ were in various degrees of shock. Some could not stand the two hours of scourging, blood and crucifixion, and eight of the 180-strong audience at yesterday's afternoon screening at the Odeon in Maidstone, Kent, walked out angrily long before the end.One woman had to be comforted with cups of tea after she had been escorted out on the brink of...
