    California Globe ^ | January 3, 2025 | Katy Grimes
As the Globe recently reported, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s final expansion of full-scope Medi-Cal went into effect Monday, January 1, 2024, making more than 700,000 illegal immigrants residents between ages 26 and 49 eligible for full health care coverage – at a very precarious time with his $68 billion budget deficit. If Gavin Newsom and the state’s Democrats – who surely flunked basic math – are trying to bankrupt the state, they are going about it correctly. This latest expansion of Medi-Cal will cost $2.6 billion annually on top of the $330 billion budget.

Many Americans eagerly look forward to a time when they can stop working and officially set their status to “retired.” But when asked what age they anticipate that could be, there isn’t a consensus. The average age when people say they hope to retire is 62, according to one survey. SNIP Meanwhile, the House of Representatives last week approved a retirement bill that would push out the age for required minimum distributions on certain savings accounts to 75, up from the current age of 72. That change, if it passes the Senate, would be gradually phased in by 2032. SNIP...

Republican Kari Lake on Friday filed a lawsuit to nullify the 2022 midterm election results for the governor’s race in the state of Arizona. ....Snip.... "Maricopa County election officials engaged in numerous breaches of Arizona election law in their handling and custody of ballots, making it impossible to conclude that the vote tallies reported by Maricopa County accurately reflect the votes cast by Arizona voters,” contends the lawsuit. Kari Lake’s team of expert attorneys have gathered evidence from signed witness testimony, Runbeck whistleblowers, and Maricopa County whistleblowers to craft a 70-page lawsuit against Maricopa County and Secretary of State Katie...

Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-Wyo.) comment that she will not be a Republican if former President Trump wins the party’s 2024 presidential nomination is sparking chatter that she might mount an independent White House run. While Cheney lost her House primary to the former president’s endorsed candidate last month, her break with the MAGA wing of the GOP has made her the leader of the anti-Trump movement among Republicans and beyond.

A Republican Oklahoma state senator is launching a primary challenge to Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.). Nathan Dahm announced his campaign on Wednesday in a video drawing close parallels between former President Trump and himself. Recalling his narrow win in a 2012 Republican state Senate runoff, he said that both he and Trump “put in the work” to overcome long political odds. “What drew me to Donald Trump initially was his belief that he could pull off the impossible,” Dahm says in the video. “When he first came down the escalator, he faced insurmountable odds. But Trump put in the work...

Last week, it was reported that Admiral Mike Rogers, who served as President Obama’s National Security Advisor, has been cooperating with U.S. Attorney John Durham’s criminal inquiry into the origins of the Trump/Russia collusion investigation. This was big news for two reasons. I wrote about the first reason in a recent post, in which I called Rogers the “Unsung Hero.” He was one of the few Obama administration officials who actually had integrity, a man who noticed that something was amiss and acted. It was this man who traveled to Trump Tower on November 17, 2016, to brief then-President-elect Donald...

All eyes are on Texas. Well, they’re on what Texas sent to the Supreme Court Monday night, a lawsuit that accuses Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia of engaging in unconstitutional practices to allow an environment ripe for voter fraud. But another lawsuit has just been docketed at the Supreme Court that could have major election implications. Attorney Lin Wood’s case against Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has been put on the docket. Finally.

President Trump has tapped personal attorney Rudy Giuliani to helm his 2020 election result battles, putting him in charge of the campaign’s more than two dozen lawsuits and of all public statements concerning them, according to a report. Trump put the former New York City mayor and staunch supporter in charge in response to a court setback in Maricopa County, Ariz., the New York Times reported. Earlier in the day, the campaign had abandoned as moot its lawsuit alleging that the use of Sharpies caused some ballots to be wrongly rejected

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has reportedly spent about $120 million in digital and television ads since joining the presidential race last month. The billionaire candidate is targeting large Super Tuesday states such as California and Texas, spending more than $13 million in each of those states, Politico reported Wednesday. Bloomberg has also spent that much in Florida, which votes a week after Super Tuesday, according to the news outlet. Before he entered the race in late November, an aide to Bloomberg said the philanthropist would be willing to spend "whatever it takes" to beat President Trump. Politico...

House Democrats have officially pushed Speaker Nancy Pelosi to schedule a vote considering articles of impeachment for President Trump. The vote will take place Wednesday and is being spearheaded by Texas Democrat Al Green. Green is no stranger to articles of impeachment for President Trump and has introduced them multiple times on the House floor. They’ve never received a vote. Last night he did it again, leading to a full House vote later today. Green's latest move came after the House voted to condemn President Trump for tweets about leftist Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib....
