A Wisconsin state lawmaker has proposed a bill that would let people ban themselves from owning handguns as a suicide prevention measure. The proposal, filed as LRB-3529 by Democrat Rep. Melissa Sargent, would allow people who may be at risk of suicide to ban themselves from being able to buy handguns in Wisconsin. Individuals who choose to take part in the Firearm Self-Exclusion Program would have the choice of excluding themselves from handgun purchases for one, five or 20 years, with the first year being irrevocable. “Nearly half of the suicides that occur in Wisconsin annually involve firearms,” Sargent said...
  • VA democrats attack the NRA

Last week, the National Rifle Association endorsed the full Republican ticket -- Ed Gillespie, Jill Vogel, and John Adams. The NRA promotes policies that would make our communities, schools, and children less safe -- from allowing guns in schools to opposing universal background checks. But one Virginian is killed every 10 hours by a gun. That’s why Ralph and the Democratic ticket are proud to have an ‘F’ rating from the NRA -- because commonsense gun laws are important for the safety of the commonwealth. Will you chip in today to help us counter the NRA’s support of the GOP...
  • Democrat Congresswoman Says NRA Membership A Domestic Security Threat

Late last week, U.S. Rep. Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y., tweeted that the NRA is increasingly becoming a domestic security threat. Her exact words: I'm just going to say it. #NRA & @DLoesch are quickly becoming domestic security threats under President Trump. We can't ignore that. Rice’s proclamation does two things: First, it makes her but the latest in a long line of liberal politicians who have decided to attack the NRA instead of dealing with examples of leftist-inspired violence uncovered by the NRA. Secondly, it insults the whole of NRA's membership, as the NRA is not an abstraction but a...

Gays Against Guns will crash a gun show in Pennsylvania this weekend for the second time in less than a month as the gun control advocacy group experiments with new forms of protest in its second year of existence. The group, founded in the wake of the Pulse nightclub shooting last year, will hold a demonstration outside the Split Rock Gun Show scheduled for Saturday in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania. Some protesters will wear a white veil and carry photos of local victims of gun violence, while others will hand out informational fliers containing statistics about gun-related deaths. “We are...
  • New bill bans pistol sales unless they can microstamp their bullets

Gun industry groups argue microstamping is unreliable, serves no safety purpose and is cost prohibitive. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra calls it “smart, effective, and constitutional.” (Photo: ucdavis.edu) A dozen House Democrats are backing a measure mandating pistols sold by licensed dealers be capable of stamping a code on their ammunition at firing. Introduced as the Make Identifiable Criminal Rounds Obvious (MICRO) Act last month, the proposal would strip the ability of federal firearms licensees to sell pistols that do not carry the controversial microstamping technology. Backers argue that as much as 40 percent of murders go unsolved due to...

Minneapolis, MN – Raymond Dehn, candidate for Minneapolis mayor, is proposing police officers leave their guns in their cars, but says it’s okay for them to have nightsticks or pepper spray. Raymond Dehn, who is also a State Representative, is running against current mayor Betsy Hodges in this fall’s election, according to Fox9. He said, “Officers don’t need to carry guns on their person all the time…I’m not saying they don’t have access to that, just like they have access to more lethal weapons in their cars, I would believe they would still have access to their guns in their...

The Center for American Progress has just released a report about gun theft, which is already serving as a tailor-made tool for those who want to extinguish your Second Amendment rights. If you’re unfamiliar with the Center for American Progress, its first president and CEO was John Podesta, who served at President Bill Clinton’s Chief of Staff, and later chaired Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. The group’s report: Stolen Guns in America: A State-by-State Analysis, describes gun theft in the United States as “staggering,” and it holds gun owners responsible for the thefts, rather than the criminals themselves.

In stumping against increased acceptance of concealed carry permits nationwide, gun control advocates tapped in George Zimmerman’s CWL and a $20 BB gun. (Photo: Everytown) Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety over the weekend began running a meme showing a Florida state concealed weapon license purportedly owned by George Zimmerman layered over a person with a Marksman air pistol shoved haphazardly into the waistband of their jeans. “Some states have low or no standards for who can carry a concealed weapon in public,” says the text over the ad. “The NRA’s latest pet policy would make the weakest...

The State Attorney General for New Jersey has been pumping up state-sponsored gun buy back programs scheduled for this weekend, arguing the events will help in the fight against violent crime. In an opinion piece published Thursday in the Star-Ledger, New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino admits that gun buy backs are not a complete solution but argues the events can do a lot to help law enforcement get crime guns off the streets. “Some doubters question the overall efficacy of buybacks, while others suggest that buybacks tend to bring in mostly old ‘attic’ guns,” Porrino said. “But once a...

“These weapons will never be on our streets unlawfully in the hands of criminals,” said Sheriff Jim McDonnell as the guns were melted at a Rancho Cucamonga steel mill. The guns, collected across Los Angeles County by 14 different departments included 2,778 from the LASD and 2,193 from outside agencies. Among the total destroyed in the 24th annual event were 3,520 pistols and revolvers as well as 1,451 rifles and shotguns. “The collection of weapons here today can be credited to the solid efforts of law enforcement officers throughout Los Angeles County,” McDonnell said. “They will not be used...

Sen. Kamala Harris is running for president, Democrat donors say John Sexton Posted at 5:01 pm on July 18, 2017 Senator Kamala Harris is running for president. The Hill reports that’s the word coming from top donors who are excited about the possibility: The Bridgehampton event, where Harris mingled with top donors and supporters of Hillary Clinton, was the ultimate signal that Harris is “thinking much bigger” than the Senate, one top bundler said. “She’s running for president. Take it to the bank,” another fundraiser said. “She’s absolutely going to run.” Donors say Harris is giving them a glimmer of...

A coalition of police chiefs with a history of supporting gun control initiatives are taking aim at national concealed carry legislation, saying it could “sow chaos.” The National Law Enforcement Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence, composed of an alliance of various police chief lobbying groups, on Friday penned a letter to Congress urging lawmakers to decline support for a pair of national concealed carry reciprocity bills. The measures, the H.R. 38 and S.446, respectively, would expand carry rights nationwide, in effect forcing states and local jurisdictions to respect all valid concealed carry permits, a move the group feels is a...

Roughly 22 million Americans -- 8.9 percent of the adult population-- have impulsive anger issues and easy access to guns. 3.7 million of these angry gun owners routinely carry their guns in public. And very few of them are subject to current mental health-based gun ownership restrictions. Those are the key findings of a new study by researchers from Harvard, Columbia and Duke University. "Anger," in this study, doesn't simply mean garden-variety aggravation. It means explosive, uncontrollable rage, as measured by responses to the National Comorbidity Survey Replication in the early 2000s. It is "impulsive, out of control, destructive, harmful,"...

In the early morning hours of June 12, 2016, Tiara Parker of Philadelphia was out on the town – but this wasn’t just any night out. She was inside the Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, a place that would become the scene of a mass shooting terrorist attack by 29-year-old Omar Mateen. On that night, 49 people were murdered and another 58 were wounded in what has been called the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil since the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001. Parker was with U.S. Sen. Bob Casey in Ardmore Monday morning, speaking on what has...

California’s draconian new gun laws will require residents of the Golden state to register their “assault weapons” with the state (which they will have to pay to do of course) by the end of the year. But thanks to capitalism and the free market, gun makers have already figured out workarounds.

When the attack on Republican lawmakers at a Congressional baseball practice occurred Wednesday, the nation again witnessed that a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun. Yet rather than acknowledge that fact—and it is a fact—the left began blaming Congress for not passing more gun control, even as a Congressman was still bleeding on the field. Think about it—people on the left responded immediately by blaming the victim for a violent crime that was carried out by a deranged left-wing zealot. The left’s reaction is the result of a complete abandonment of common decency....

If you sadly live in New Jersey, New York, Maryland or Massachusetts and actually like firearms, your list of legal AR-15s can probably fit on the bar napkin you drink your sorrows away on. OK, that is slightly over the top, but legal ones are few and far between. Ruger is adding to that list with a new AR-556 with a MonsterMan grip. Some notable features, or modifications depending on how you look at it, that make it legal in the aforementioned states are: -Threaded Barrel (1/2″ x 28 TPI) w/ Thread Protector [No Flash Hider or Muzzle Device]...

No matter how much those who consider themselves “natural Democrats” dislike the present government, the reality is that many of the people who voted for Hillary did so not because of her or the DNC’s political policies, but because they thought the alternative would be worse. Many saw Bernie as an opportunity to press the reset button on a system of politics that they have grown weary of, but the betrayal (the DNC sabotaging Bernie) has left them with a bitter taste in their mouths. No candidate that the Democrats put forward will have the absolute trust of those who...
