Procter & Gamble issued a voluntary recall last Friday of nearly three dozen aerosol hair products, including dry shampoos and dry conditioners, due to the potential presence of benzene, a cancer-causing agent. The affected brands include Pantene, Aussie, Herbal Essences, and Waterless produced in the United States. The company also recalled certain Old Spice and Secret aerosol spray antiperspirants and Old Spice "Below Deck" spray products last month due to the presence of benzene. Upon closer examination, they found "unexpected levels" of benzene in the rest of its aerosol products. "Following recent reports that indicated traces of benzene in some...

The nationalist Danes’ Party elicited strong reactions went it took to the streets of Haderslev to hand out cans of what it called “refugee spray”. The party, which was founded by a former Neo-Nazi and wants to see all non-Western immigrants kicked out of Denmark, put labels on cans of hair spray reading “Refugee Spray: Legal [and] effective”. The party’s chairman, Daniel Carlsen, said the spray is a necessary legal alternative to pepper spray, which is illegal in Denmark. He said that Haderslev was the perfect location to hand out the cans, given the reports of local women being harassed...

A man has been arrested after FBI and TSA officials said his luggage contained volatile gun parts, which caused his bag to explode Tuesday just before it was about to be loaded on a plane. The unidentified 37-year-old man had 500 to 700 bullet primers in his luggage. Primers are considered the "spark plugs" of a bullet and ignites the gun powder, projecting it toward the intended target. Officials originally said the exploding bag was caused by a hairspray aerosol can. The situation turned out to be much more serious and could have been even more dangerous if the bag...

Hairspray, not a bomb, explodes on a plane at Miami International Airport Hair spray has just been added to the "No Fly" list at Miami International Airport. The Miami-Dade bomb squad was called to the airport around 11:30 a.m. after a baggage handler said he was taking liggage to an American Airlines plane that had just arrived from Boston and a bag exploded, sending pieces of metal flying. The worker...

WARNINGS ARE written like a billboard all over Mitt Romney. He has used his fortune to buy the most transparently shameless act of political plastic surgery I've ever seen. His blatant flip flops on a laundry list of key issues are pure calculation to win conservative votes. His loose regard for truth puts him in league with Bill and Hillary Clinton. To measure Mitt Romney's allegiance to our party, look no further than the words of top Massachusetts Republicans who have seen him in operation over four years. Former Massachusetts Gov. Paul Cellucci, former state treasurer Joe Malone, former state...

THE presidential election is so close, there is not a hair's-breadth between them. Which is why the heads of hair proffered by the candidates and their running-mates has suddenly become a hot topic in America. John Kerry, who boasts a full head of hair which deliberately evokes the glamorous locks of John Kennedy, started it all when he picked as his running-mate John Edwards, who also has a boyish haircut. Mr Kerry boasted, only half in jest, that not only did the pair of them have better vision and better ideas than George W. Bush and Dick Cheney but “we’ve...

I am convinced that it is time for the party of Lincoln to reject the leadership of Lott. None of my business as a state elected official? I believe it is every Republican's business. I agree with President Bush that Senator Lott has seriously erred, and with Senate Whip Don Nickles that a new leader is needed. It's nothing personal. In some tough legislative leadership contests of my own, I've realized that these decisions are not about approval or disapproval of someone, they are about political judgments. The question facing the senator's colleagues, and our party as a whole, is...
