Florida mayor has been removed from her position after being arrested for alleged felony corruption following an FBI sting. Florida Gov. Rick Scott, a Republican, issued an executive order Friday suspending Hallandale Beach Mayor Joy Cooper, a Democrat, from her position after she was charged with felony counts of money laundering, exceeding campaign contribution limits, and official misconduct, the Sun Sentinel reported. Agents had investigated Cooper and her associates since 2012, discovering that the Hallandale Beach mayor had been accepting illegal campaign donations through ex-attorney Alan Koslow. Two hearing impaired men were stabbed in a Hallandale Beach bar Saturday night when another patron mistook their sign language for gang signs. 31-year-old Alfred Stewart, who is deaf and mute, and three others including a bouncer are recovering in hospital from non-fatal wounds suffered at the Ocean's Eleven Sports Lounge and Grill on Federal Highway, where Stewart and his friends were celebrating a birthday. Police say Barbara Lee became angry when she thought Stewart's party, all of whom are deaf, were throwing gang signs at her.
