George Elliott was one of two servicemen manning a radar station on Oahu the morning of Dec. 7, 1941. When he reported a huge sighting on his radar screen, he was ignored. At 2 a.m. on April 1, 2001, I was sitting at my computer in my Laguna Beach condo working on a website I’ve long since forgotten when an email popped up with nothing in the subject line. “Do you know who I am?” “Another April Fool’s joke,” I thought to myself as I moved my cursor up to click the Delete button. Then I glanced down and noticed the...

Gun rights advocates have a new hero. Jason Falconer, a part-time police officer who killed an attacker wielding a knife Saturday at the Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud, Minn., earned high praise from local officials as well as his own trending hashtag on Twitter. “He was put in unfortunate circumstances. I believe there was divine intervention,” Corey Nellis, the police chief in the neighboring city of Avon, said at a news conference Monday. “I think he was the person that needed to be there to prevent it from being worse than it was.”

Margo Feaser loaded the emaciated 1-year-old German Shepherd into the back of her patrol car late one night in December 2009 in hopes of finding him a new owner. The Seminole County sheriff's deputy found him while responding to a call about a dog scaring away customers from a gas station. He wasn't injured or aggressive, so Feaser took him home. She had no idea that Maxx, the wild, heartworm positive pup, would end up making her family his fur-ever home and one day save her family's life. "He definitely returned the favor and then some," she said. It has...

Left-wing CNN’s sister network HLN blurred out the Trump 2016 logo of a man’s t-shirt it interviewed for a human interest segment on Wednesday. The man was being interviewed for his rescuing of a baby left unattended in a hot car. Steven Eckel was wearing a blue Trump 2016 t-shirt during his initial interview with HLN, which was broadcast live. During a subsequent re-airing of the interview, however, HLN’s production team blurred out his t-shirt logo.

Outgunned, outmanoeuvred, hopelessly outnumbered and besieged in the Afghan desert, a small band of British soldiers chose to save a final bullet for themselves rather than fall into Taliban hands. For nearly two months, the 88 men of Easy Company – a mix of Paratroopers and the Royal Irish – had faced the overwhelming force and firepower of up to 500 Taliban determined to over-run the remote Helmand outpost of Musa Qala.

BERLIN (AFP) - A German journalist who witnessed the Nice attack said he saw a motorcyclist chase the killer truck and try to enter the cabin but fall and end up under the wheels. "I stood on the balcony, right on the Promenade des Anglais, and saw how people celebrated there, and how suddenly a truck drove through the crowd," Richard Gutjahr, 42, who shot smartphone video footage of the bloody Bastille Day rampage, told AFP on Friday. "Surprisingly, he drove very slowly, not fast, he drove slowly and he was chased by a motorcyclist," recounted Gutjahr by telephone. "The...

Nearly 15 years after 9/11, New York firefighter and Battalion Chief Larry Stack is slowly but surely moving toward his final resting place. Stack and 342 other firefighters died trying to save lives at the World Trade Center that were destroyed in the September 11th, 2001 attacks. Stacks' remains like many others were never found or identified. So his family didn't hold a funeral for him. They were hoping his remains would be found. Plus, the Catholic Church requires physical remains be present in church for a funeral. After 15 agonizing years Stacks' family remembered he had gone into the...

Former Kansas senator and 1996 Republican nominee Bob Dole endorsed Donald Trump for president on Friday, calling for the GOP to unite around Trump in order to defeat Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee. Dole's support gives the GOP presumptive nominee the support of another party elder on a day when other top Republicans announced their opposition. Trump inconspicuously announced the endorsement earlier on Friday at a rally in Omaha, Nebraska, as he ticked off the names of several prominent Republicans who have come around to his candidacy since he became the party's presumptive nominee earlier this week.

A U.S. judge has approved the extradition of a New Hampshire man to Nevada, where he is to face trial on charges that he helped organize a high-profile armed standoff with federal agents at the ranch of Cliven Bundy in 2014. The transfer of Jerry DeLemus, 61, to Nevada may proceed since no order was received from the U.S. District Court in Nevada staying the transfer, according to a ruling issued late on Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Andrea Johnstone. No date has been set for the extradition. DeLemus is a well-known conservative activist who co-chairs the New Hampshire Veterans...

A self-avowed anti-Islam activist who allegedly participated in the militiamen occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon has been arrested. **SNIP** Ritzheimer first became nationally known in May last year when he organized an anti-Islam rally that was held in front of a mosque in Phoenix. At the time, Ritzheimer called it a "freedom of speech" rally to "push out the truth about Islam," and encouraged participants to "utilize their Second Amendment rights" while at the gathering. When local government and civil rights groups overwhelmingly denounced the rally, Ritzheimer declared "I can't let my kids grow up in...

"When you're in a fight, people just don't like the fight, so they're going to respond negatively," DeLay said on CNN. "It's who wins and comes out of the fight that has long-lasting effects. And I got to tell you right now, out here in the real world, outside of New York and Washington, D.C., these people think Ted Cruz is a hero. They think that those Republicans in the House are heroes. And they think that Obama is destroying this country." Cruz helped kick off the congressional chaos by speaking on the Senate floor for 21 hours in a...

Isn’t it ironic that a Messianic Jew, Nicholas Thalasinos, was one of the people killed in the terrorist attack in San Bernardino. Nicholas was a co-worker with the shooter, and had argued with him, saying that Islam is violent. Maybe that is why he was killed, to show how non-violent Islam is. He is reported to have been threatened with death just hours before the attack. The NY post is reported to be using the fact that he called Islam violent a possible reason for the attack. From facebook, Carl Ludwig: This literally makes me sick.Nicholas Thalasinos was a...
