Not to be biased, but I felt I needed to share some first hand knowledge from the last few days regarding the home tests. Two of my daughters are nurses in a major hospital. Both along with three other nurses they work closely with, and two of their children came down with the dreaded "symptoms". So they all took home tests that showed positive for Covid. As a work and school requirement for the kids, they all had to take the longer term 48 hr test before they could return to work and school. All tested negative with the second...

NYC has seen vending machines for engagement rings and Brooks Brothers shirts, as well as PPE like gloves and sanitizing wipes, but this new Manhattan machine is really testing the limits. Since January, a storefront at 225 W. 34th St. — formerly home to a Lane Bryant — has hosted two of health company Wellness 4 Humanity’s new vending machines, which sell DIY at-home COVID tests instead of snacks or sodas. For $149 — credit or debit cards only, no cash — you can pick up a PCR saliva test, use it at your leisure, mail it to one of...

The Food and Drug Administration has approved the first at-home test for the coronavirus. It's made by LabCorp, that said due to limited quantities, it will first be made available to healthcare workers and first responders... The FDA approval is not a "general authorization for at-home collection of patient samples" and only applies to the LabCorp testing kit. Right now, the kits are available in Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.

The FDA has authorized the first diagnostic test with a home collection option for COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. In a statement released Tuesday, the FDA said that it had reissued an Emergency Use Authorization for LabCorp to COVID-19 RT-PCR Test to permit testing of samples that were self-collected by patients at home using LabCorp's Pixel by LabCorp COVID-19 Test home collection kit. "Throughout this pandemic we have been facilitating test development to ensure patients access to accurate diagnostics, which includes supporting the development of reliable and accurate at-home sample collection options," said FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn.

Test to be validated this week, then made available to healthcare workers and general public Millions of 15-minute home coronavirus tests are set to be available on the high street or for Amazon delivery to people self-isolating, according to Public Health England (PHE), in a move that could restore many people’s lives to a semblance of pre-lockdown normality. Prof Sharon Peacock, the director of the national infection service at PHE, told MPs on the science and technology committee that mass testing in the UK would be possible within days, saying evaluation of the fingerprick tests should be completed this week....
