Insiders and grassroots activists are starting to zero in on a primary challenger to face off against embattled incumbent US Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Graham has become extremely unpopular due to his votes on taxes, the NDAA, gun rights and his position on drones. He recently came out against Rand Paul’s filibuster, which created National backlash against him and is refusing to support Paul’s efforts to filibuster Obama’s attempt at Second Amendment restrictions.

Voters now know a thing or two about Harry Reid's type -- the Senate majority leader, speaking at a fundraiser Monday, reportedly called New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand "the hottest member," in front of a crowd that included the blond mother of two. Politico.com reported that the remark caused Gillibrand to blush and surprised those in the audience. Reid apparently was explaining that senators are known for "many things," but that Gillibrand has a reputation as a Capitol Hill hottie. ...

A day or so ago, I was surfing on one of the Bloggers or the Chat Forums, and someone posted a picture of a tall hottie in shorts and what looked like UGG boots pulling a trash can along. She was wearing green. I've looked through my computer's web history for the past several days, and can't locate it. Can anyone point me to the thread or picture? (I'm betting Laz will know.)

They say death and taxes are inevitable. But in the case of Earl Phillips, taxes may have helped save the Adair County man's life. When Phillips called the state Department of Revenue last month to get answers about his state income tax bill, the faceless Frankfort bureaucrat who called him back saved his life. Now Phillips thinks Department of Revenue employee Natalie Brown — who dialed 911 when Phillips had a heart attack during that May 26th phone call — should receive more than a simple thank you. "I'm very proud of that lady," Phillips said. "She saved my life....

Airman 1st Class Apryl Sanders, a weapons manager for the 16th Airborne Command and Control Squadron at Robins Air Force Base, was named Miss Military last month by a nonprofit organization in California. Wednesday, she e-mailed the contest organizer to refuse the crown. The California-based Military Civilian Experience Inc. organized the event, which also named a Mr. Military. Calvin Hill, the group’s founder, said Sanders was forced to give up the crown by her superiors. “The chain of command put pressure on her,” Hill said. “Something is going on there.” Sanders initially declined to comment on why she campaigned for...

Never mind Benjamin Netanyahu and Tzipi Livni. Israelis are chattering about the candidacy of Orly Levy, a 35-year-old former fashion model running for Parliament from the state's hard-right Israel Beitenu party. Local wags have made quick work of her thin résumé, and even Levy herself admits, "I have no political experience at all." Some Israelis are amused. "This would be like Paris Hilton going to the Senate," says filmmaker Etgar Keret. "You could make a reality show about this." A scary one: according to the latest polls, Levy's ultranationalist party is surging, and could win as many as 18 seats...

She takes the pulpit each Sunday in a long, black robe, but Massachusetts pastor Nicole Lamarche once strutted the stage in a swimsuit -- as a beauty pageant winner. Lamarche caused a small scandal upon her arrival, when some church members Googled her and discovered that she's a former Miss...

Newly released academic research suggests that Sarah Palin's sexiness, while great for selling copies of Vogue magazine and political buttons about the hottest governor from the coldest state last fall, may actually have hurt her vote-getting ability, which seems to be what elections are about. Of course, standing next to John McCain is bound to make pretty much anyone look pretty much prettier. Which may be one reason the crowds often chanted "Sar-RAH! Sa-RAH!" when the Republican governor and Republican senator appeared together as the GOP presidential ticket.

Does it ever seem to you that we are more interested in Sarah Palin as a human than we are in any of the other candidates for president or vice-president? Critics used to moan that they "didn't know" her when she was tapped for the McCain ticket, but now it seems to us that we might know a little too much about her. Today the New Republic uncovered some notes she scribbled on the back of official papers back in the days when she was a Wasilla city councilmember dreaming of becoming mayor. And also, yesterday, YouTube gave us another...
