El Centro Border Patrol (ELC) credits the new border wall to a decrease in total apprehensions. Apprehensions dropped from 15,519 to 9,696 from the previous fiscal year-- a 36 percent decease. In total, during fiscal year 2020 the ELC processed 617 unaccompanied undocumented children, 733 families, and 8,316 single adults. The agency says each category has decreased substantially since the new border wall project and new policies have been implemented.

More than the economy, more than terrorism, more even than the question of whether Obama was chased back into the oval office by a rat, a vole, or a trilobite, illegal immigration has become the arena in which the upcoming election will be fought. The left cannot win that match. Illegal immigration violates too many fundamental precepts involving security, economics, and questions of national identity....

Those old Republican hot buttons are growing cold. For proof, check out a recent interview with Mitt Romney, a former presidential candidate and ex-governor of Massachusetts. According to TheHill.com, a congressional newspaper that publishes when Congress is in session, ''Romney believes that one way to attract more minorities to the GOP is to pass immigration reform before the next election, saying the issue becomes demagogued by both parties on the campaign trail.'' The article also quotes Romney as saying, ``We have a natural affinity with Hispanic-American voters, Asian-American voters.''

The Senate is bracing for its first fight for illegal immigrants in nearly 10 years after the chambers' parliamentarian ruled that a debate over granting legal status to illegal agriculture workers will be allowed on the pending emergency spending bill.The $81 billion spending bill covers cost associated with the war on terror, and the House already passed a version with provisions restricting asylum claims and cracking down on illegal immigrants' ability to use driver's licenses. The parliamentarian said those provisions open the door for Sen. Larry E. Craig, Idaho republican, to offer as an amendment his bill, coomonly called "Ag-jobs"...
