Former President George W. Bush says he can’t remember if he said “that was some weird s***” after President Trump’s inauguration speech in January. He was asked about the alleged remark in an interview that aired on NPR’s “Morning Edition” Thursday. He does, however, clearly remember his awkward response to rain that day. “I wish I got the rain poncho on a little more cleanly,” Bush joked, referring to his struggle to put on a transparent poncho during the ceremony as it began to rain. “My daughters were aghast. ‘Dad, you’re a national tweet sensation. You’re trending,’ or whatever the...

Love Trumps Hate! Love Trumps Hate!” This mantra has been riccocheting noisily through our streets for the past several months, usually interspersed with other anti-Trump chants including: “Not My President!”; “No Trump! No Fear! Refugees Are Welcome Here!”; and “No Trump! No KKK! No Fascist USA!" So chanted the belligerent throngs of Disrupt J20, as they engaged in KKK/Fascist-style tactics and linked arms to illegally block American citizens — men, women, young people, and children, including military servicemen in uniform — who had journeyed to Washington, D.C. on January 20 to peacefully attend the inauguration of President Donald John Trump. “Love Trumps...

In a tent behind the Lincoln Memorial in D.C., the soon-to-be president praised Shane Bouvet for his work as a volunteer on his campaign, hugged him and then promised him an extraordinary thank you: a $10,000 check. The unusual meeting was arranged after Trump said he read a profile about Bouvet in The Washington Post. The struggling single father had spent nights working and days volunteering for Trump, who Bouvet hoped could bring renewal to his home town of Stonington, Ill.,...

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-New York) criticized the crowd that witnessed President Trump's inauguration for booing him during his speech. Schumer said on CNN that he was trying to deliver a message of inclusion and unity on Friday but "heard catcalls" and was told of further booing after he stepped down from the dais. "That speech given with any other president or audience would've been cheered," Schumer said, "It's not controversial language to say 'we're all Americans' [or to] reach out to others."

Some even called it “out of touch” and “dystopian“. Except, there’s a problem,… ….the vast majority of American’s liked it.

Trump got relatively high marks on his Friday address, with 49 percent of those who watched or heard about the speech saying it was excellent or good, and just 39 percent rating it as only fair or poor. Sixty-five percent of those surveyed reacted positively to the “America First” message, the...
