Greece is in flames; the Euro is looking like it might go the way of the Yugo; Mexico's President Calderon demands even more U.S. support, while turning a blind eye on illegal immigration and openly attacking Arizona's new law to stop it. The oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico -- happy faced by BP as "no big deal" is now threatening.....

In 1780, in the Massachusetts Bill of Rights, John Adams penned the phrase "...a government of laws and not of men." This was as part of Article XXX -- a statement of the absolute separation of the powers of government so that those who made the laws could neither execute nor adjudicate them, and that similar restrictions would be placed on both the executive department and the judiciary. Even while this was being written, Massachusetts and the other American colonies were fighting a bloody war of independence from England, a country where no such separation of powers existed, and the...

In what is unquestionably the greatest "trans-generational" theft of all time, the U.S. government has flagrantly violated the original "Golden Rule" to entrap and enslave the American people and to ensure that, unless there is immediate and massive reform across the entire spectrum of government, our children and their children after them will live in a country and struggle with a morality and a standard of living inconceivable to Americans of this or any previous generation. In defiance of this nation's founders and.......

Watching Glenn Beck's program on Fox News, it's easy to get the idea that Progressivism is a party -- a "fifth column" movement, fully and secretly organized, that has managed to place "moles" in both of this country's great political parties and that, even as you read this, is working to consolidate its power for the eventual destruction of America and the corruption of all that we hold to be of value. Even worse, Progressivism might be a.......

Although he never seems to be able to make it "stick", President Barack Obama is certainly a superb manipulator of people and events. With a prestidgitator's nimblness, not of fingers, but of tongue and fancy footwork, he has managed to get himself elected; managed to spend more money more quickly than all of the other presidents before him; managed to grow the federal government and the powers of......

On May 12, 2010, in a Philadelphia Daily News piece headed with her name and, after the colon, "Questions for Kagan", columnist Jenice Armstrong became one of the few mainstream journalists to openly address the question "Is Elena Kagan gay?" This was a fine start, especially when she went on to say that it could matter "because of cases that might come before the highest court in the land." She's even okay when she says "I'd be lying if I said that I don't really care whether Kagan, who was the first female U.S. Solicitor General, is gay, as has...

The terrorists have won! Throw down your arms; disband the TSA; tell Janet Napolitano that, whether or not there are actually any terrorists - or even any Muslims, for that matter -- the "man made disasters" have gotten out of hand; the "Overseas Contingency Operation" is a failure; and the whoever-they-are-that-we're-not-supposed-to-ever-mention-for-fear-of-offending-them-and-(Allah forbid)!-bringing-even-more-of-their-wrath-down-upon-our-heads have finally achieved their goal. The purpose of terrorism is to create terror. Killing people and destroying property are nice, too, but.....

After the publication of my article entitled "The strongest fence of all", a number of readers were kind enough to respond to my suggested use of electric rattlesnakes as the final touch, along with razor wire, to protect a proposed triple-row of 100 foot high walls to be built along our entire southern border to ward off drug lords, undocumented workers, and the infamous Cupacabras - the mythical Mexican "Goat Sucker" -- apparently some type of public school dropout easily fooled by goats. One inquired if.......

In an earlier article, I wrote that if the only way to stop the entry of illegal immigrants into this country is "a hundred foot high wall, three rows deep, topped with razor wire and electric rattlesnakes", then so be it. Since then, I've thought of something more effective.....

We are now facing the very real possibility of a world gone mad. Runaway government is threatening to make America -- that first bastion of individual liberty -- also the very last; our economy and that of the entire world is tottering; we are in a two front war - precisely what military experts have always warned against -- and may be about to add a third; the Middle East is aflame with jihadis raging to kill or convert all the rest of the world, and Iran is threatening, at ts first possible opportunity, to make that flame radioactive and...

The Constitution is not a "living" document. Regardless of what Progressives and its far-left detractors say, it does not, and is not intended to, grow and change with society. The constitution is intended for application, not interpretation, but, because of the words in which it is written may have changed their meaning over the past two centuries, even though the meaning of the document, itself, has remained constant, it may require.....

An "apple pie" issue is one that - at least on the face of it - is so good, so pure, and so obviously innocuous that no one can possibly oppose it without looking foolish, misanthropic, or downright evil. Curing cancer is an apple pie issue. So is conquering AIDS or ending poverty. So is the entire issue of being "for Motherhood and against Sin." How could anyone be on the wrong side of any of those? It would be like not liking apple pie, and not to like apple pie is not only inconceivable but......

I've tried to think that it's just laziness -- You know, not bothering to read the source materials before leaping to whatever interpretation of them you like best - but I can't. What I see in current news reporting can't be that innocent. The media can't all be a bunch of high school kids cranking out homework assignment book reports without actually reading the book. And even if they were, doesn't there ever come a time.......

The United States has plenty of reasons toi protect its northern border. For onething, it's known to be a relatively unguarded entry-point for terrorists; for another, in a number of incidents including one reported in a feature story by CBC news in March of 2009, Canadians, just like Mexicans across our southern border, are accused of entering our country illegally to take American jobs. If the United States were to take strong measures to close our Canadian border and end illegal entry, would that be racist? Or would it simply be a matter of asserting and protecting our national sovereignty?...

Americans caught virtually anywhere in the world that they're not supposed to be - even if they're there by accident or misadventure - are, almost without exception, subject to tough treatment by the countries they have "invaded". That was what happened to.....

One day when I was in college, I was sitting in the Student Uniion and overheard what appeared to be a verbal battle-to-the-death between two law school students. The question they were attacking was something like "If you were already in practice and you had a client who you knew was guilty, would you still defend him?" One of them took the posture that,.........
