On Friday’s broadcast of Bloomberg TV’s “Wall Street Week,” economist Larry Summers stated that “we’re going to entrench inflation way above 2%, perhaps in the 4% or even higher range, unless something happens to break the current mood,” and the Build Back Better reconciliation bill will increase inflation over the next two years, but it could be offset by the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy.

Throughout the existence of the scientific process, replicating results has always been a necessary component in order to gain a scientific consensus and gauge the accuracy of the results of whatever test or calculations were conducted, but when the supposedly trustworthy experts find something in the results that doesn’t fit the approved narrative – leading them to bury the information – the credibility of the scientific establishment goes completely out the window.Well, according to one world-renowned cardiologist out of the UK, that is exactly what is happening right now.A recently released study that was presented at the American Heart Association...

U.S. consumers are spending more and ramping up credit card balances, reversing a shift during the COVID-19 crisis, when they scaled back spending and substantially paid down debt, a Federal Reserve Bank of New York report showedon Tuesday. After rising by $17 billion in both the second and third quarters, credit card use appears to be returning to pre-pandemic patterns, the researchers said. However, balances were still $123 billion lower than at the end of 2019, according to the quarterly report on household debt and credit. "As pandemic relief efforts wind down, we are beginning to see the reversal of...

Several lobbying firms with connections to President Biden experienced a sharp increase in cash during the first six months of 2021, with some raking in four times as much revenue over the same time period in 2020. One firm cashing in on the Biden administration is headed by the brother of a senior White House official, and another bought a lobbying group owned by a top official from the presidential campaign. Two other firms are linked to lobbyists who worked under Biden when he served in previous offices. The influx of cash to these firms “illustrates the extent to which...

The U.S. Department of Labor announced Wednesday morning that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased .5 percent in July after rising .9 percent in June and tying last month's year-over-year increase of 5.4 percent — the largest jump since 2008. BREAKING: Consumer price index rises 0.5% in July, up 5.4% year-over-year. And while Democrats herald wage growth, the accompanying inflation is outpacing that growth and leaving Americans with less buying power. The result is a "Biden pay cut," according to Job Creators Network President Alfredo Ortiz. "Rapidly rising prices due to inflation are causing American workers' real wages to fall,"...

Texas reported 4,320 COVID-19-related hospitalizations on Saturday, a high not seen since mid-March, when the state’s numbers began trending downward. The total marks an increase of over 1,000 hospitalizations from the prior week, when the state reported just shy of 3,000. Last week, the state’s health commissioner noted a 150 percent increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations between June 27 and July 20. Dr. John Hellerstedt, the commissioner of the department of state health services, noted that the delta variant makes up most new cases in Texas. He urged residents who haven’t yet received a COVID-19 vaccine to seek out the shot.

With Pennsylvania’s mask mandate and COVID-19 restrictions in the rearview mirror, cases of the disease are increasing statewide. Over the past week, there have been 2,930 cases reported by the state Health Department — the highest weekly count reported since June 12, when 2,997 cases were reported within one week. This week’s number of cases is nearly twice that of the previous week’s total of 1,606 cases across the state. The statewide total of cases since the pandemic began is 1,217,857. The amount of individuals hospitalized and in intensive care due to the virus has also increased. On July 15,...

Coronavirus cases are spiking in nearly every state, fueled by the spread of the highly contagious delta variant. The overwhelming majority of cases are appearing in Americans who are not vaccinated against the virus, with many of the highest increases coming in states where vaccination rates are the lowest. Cases nationwide are up 55% in the past week as a result, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Florida is now averaging the most cases of any state in the country, reporting approximately 6,500 new cases—a 91% jump from the week before—each day, according to the...

The Fed has created trillions out of thin air to boost the speculative wealth of Wall Street, but it can't print experienced workers willing to work for low wages. The Federal Reserve is reassuring us daily that inflation is temporary, but allow me to assure you that wage inflation is just getting started and will accelerate rapidly. As I noted yesterday, the Fed can create currency out of thin and funnel it to financiers, but the Fed can't create experienced, motivated workers out of thin air or entrepreneurs with the chops to launch and sustain real-world enterprises. Let's start with...

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Tuesday said that interest rates may need to increase to keep the recovering economy from going into overdrive on the heels of significant government spending. “It may be that interest rates will have to rise somewhat to make sure that our economy doesn’t overheat, even though the additional spending is relatively small relative to the size of the economy,” she said in response to a question on a panel hosted by The Atlantic about whether the economy could absorb the large dose of spending President Biden was proposing.

Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) joined far-left members of the “Squad” in demanding $2,000 direct checks for the American people, but took the request a step further, calling for the checks to be “monthly.” “We cannot afford to wait any longer. Let’s send out $2k monthly checks,” Khanna said Tuesday as Democrats continue to clamor over President-elect Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending plan, which includes $1,400 checks rather than $2,000:

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority on Tuesday will consider raising the maximum speed limits to 80 mph on rural portions of some turnpikes. The current maximum speed limit is 75 mph. Among the areas proposed for the change is a 13-mile stretch of the Turner Turnpike in Creek County, from milepost 203 to milepost 216, within the newly constructed six-lane section that extends from Sapulpa to 6 miles east of Bristow. The recent passage of House Bill 1071 set the stage for statewide studies on potential maximum speed limit increases to 80 mph on rural turnpikes and 75...

A new United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) report confirms how extreme weather events have come to dominate the disaster landscape at the beginning of 21st century. Floods and storms were the most prevalent disaster events, followed by earthquakes, extreme temperatures, landslides, droughts, wildfires, volcanic activity and dry mass movement. UNDRR used statistics from the Emergency Events Database (EM-DAT) maintained by the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) which records disasters which have killed ten or more people, affected 100 or more people, resulted in a declared state of emergency, or a call for international...

BRUSSELS — NATO nations are increasing spending on defense, with nine of the alliance’s 29 members now meeting guidelines, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Friday, ahead of a summit next week where President Donald Trump is expected to urge leaders yet again to increase military expenditures. The top-tier spending club — with at least 2% of annual gross domestic allocated for defense — expanded by one country and now includes Bulgaria, according to figures released by the military alliance. EU countries and Canada have collectively boosted their defense spending every year since 2015, motivated first by Russia’s conflict with...

China said Friday it will impose new tariffs on $75 billion worth of U.S. goods and resume duties on American autos. The Chinese State Council said it decided to slap tariffs ranging from 5% to 10% on $75 billion U.S. goods in two batches effective on Sept. 1 and Dec. 15. That happens to be when President Donald Trump’s latest tariffs on Chinese goods are to take effect. It also said a 25% tariff will be imposed on U.S. cars and a 5% on auto parts and components, which will go into effect on Dec.15. China had paused these tariffs...

Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is proposing what some opponents are calling a draconian gas tax increase to fix the state’s crumbling road infrastructure. Whitmer’s budget proposal will include a 45-cent gas tax increase, which would be phased in over three separate intervals, the governor’s spokeswoman Tiffany Brown told reporters Monday. The rate would begin increasing in October, hit its second phase in April 2020, and ease into its final phase by the end of that year. The increase is expected to generate roughly $2 billion a year in additional revenue for roads, according to media reports. Whitmer, a Democrat...
