One idea that I have tried to understand but cannot possibly fathom is the failed concept of American liberalism. While deceivingly free and independent, this traitorous definition of "equality" champions abolishment in place of opportunity, and resides on the sole principle that each should put in according to his ability, yet that each should receive according to his need.
