  • My Comments on linked Irish Times article [Fintan O’Toole: Trump has unfinished business. A republic he wants to destroy still stands]

I find this article by the Irish Times interesting. Somehow the deep state set an anchor in that lovely country. I recall seeing an unintentionally horrifying picture of Hillary Clinton photographed standing in a church doorway, holding a defenseless orphan in her claws (I think I wrote then that she was shown baring her teeth). So the article is yet another MSM hatin' on President Trump, and it holds up as proof that the President brutally fired Chris Christie the day after his election victory party. Chris Christie recalls later that his 13 stuffed ring binders, holding the detailed presidential transition...

I miss torturing Liz Cheney. But it must be said that the petite blonde from Wyoming suddenly seems like a Valkyrie amid halflings. She is willing to sacrifice her leadership post – and risk her political career – to continue calling out Donald Trump’s Big Lie. She has decided that if the price of her job is being as unctuous to Trump as Kevin McCarthy is, it isn’t worth it, because McCarthy is totally disgracing himself. It has been a dizzying fall for the scion of one of the most powerful political families in the land, a conservative chip off...
  • 'Mindless growth': Robust scientific case for degrowth is stronger every day

Once confined to the small scientific community of climate researchers and ecological economists, the idea of degrowth is now blazing into the mainstream. Not surprisingly, people are trying to figure out what to make of it. Is it an inspiring idea that points the way to a better economy? Or is it a mad notion that’s sure to plunge us all into poverty? Degrowth is a planned reduction of total energy and material use to bring the economy in line with planetary boundaries, while improving people’s lives by distributing income and resources more fairly. The scientific case for degrowth is...
  • Major Irish media forced to retract ‘fake’ poll claiming most doctors support abortion

An Irish newspaper was forced to retract an article after it admitted that it had published a fake poll about abortion, misleading its readers into believing a majority of Irish doctors support the abortion of pre-born babies in the first trimester. The Irish Examiner splashed the headline "75% of doctors support 12-week access to abortion" over its front page on February 8. The sub-heading read: "Poll of 400 medics shows support for liberalising abortion regime", and claimed that "three out of every four GPs and hospital consultants are in favour of allowing unrestricted access to abortion up to 12 weeks...
