JetBlue became the first US airline to require passengers to wear face coverings on flights to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. The new policy goes into effect May 4 and comes after the airline began to require all crew members wear face masks on flights. “Wearing a face covering isn’t about protecting yourself it’s about protecting those around you,” said Joanna Geraghty, president and chief operating officer, JetBlue.

JetBlue has signed on to a new credit facility that is priced according to its performance on environmental and social matters, the first of its kind in the airline industry. The carrier’s $550m sustainability-linked loan, which was set up by French bank BNP Paribas, gives it a financial incentive to follow through on its public commitment to reduce its carbon footprint. The margin the airline pays will go up or down in conjunction with its environmental, social and governance (ESG) score as determined by Vigeo Eiris, a Paris-based sustainability research group that was recently acquired by Moody’s.

TAMPA (FOX 13) - A passenger scheduled to board a JetBlue plane to San Juan, Puerto Rico Wednesday caused a scene and was arrested in the terminal, according to officials with Tampa International Airport. A witness took video of the outburst, including the moment the man took down his pants, and later had to be restrained by officers. JetBlue Airlines said Thursday that the company will pay out $1000 bonuses to employees as a result of the passage of the GOP tax plan. The airline joins a growing list of companies announcing bonuses to employees after the passage of the bill, which President Trump signed into law last month.
