The federal prosecutors wanted a two year sentence but US District Judge Anna J. Brown opted for one year and day in prison for John Ritzheimer for his role in last year's Oregon Standoff protest. She also ordered combat veteran Ritzheimer to a 12 month residential re-entry program. Judge Brown cited his military service and PTSD related issues in her sentencing. Jon Ritzheimer posted a video online right before he traveled to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to begin his participation in the Oregon Standoff protest. It was a very disturbing video suggesting violence and death were in his future....

I was at the Phoenix mosque rally briefly last night and caught sight of its organizer, retired Marine Jon Ritzheimer. He was sweating, exhausted and removing his body armor outside of the vehicle he was in a hurry to get into to leave. I introduced myself. As we started talking, we both quickly realied that we had been in Ramadi with the same unit (me as an embedded filmmaker) at about the same time, which is to say, both of us have been in the streets battling Al Qaeda/ISIS jihadis long before doing a civil version of it this night...

Phoenix (CNN)Jon Ritzheimer is a former Marine, and he has no middle ground when it comes to Islam. A T-shirt he wears pretty much says it all: "F--- Islam." Ritzheimer is the organizer of Friday's "Freedom of Speech Rally" outside the Islamic Community Center in Phoenix.

An anti-Islam rally in Phoenix on Friday will feature a Muhammad cartoon-drawing contest. The scheduled location is outside the Islamic Community Center in north Phoenix. The gathering comes less than a month after a similar event in Texas sparked gunfire that left three people, including two Phoenix men, dead. The organizer said he had to do “something” because he does not want Islam spreading in the U.S. “We’re just out utilizing our First Amendment,” the organizer, Jon Ritzheimer, said. *snip* He is urging attendees to be peaceful once again, but the Facebook page for the event warns people to come...
