First, the demographics: I vote in Topeka (Shawnee County), Kansas. It went 50/48 pro Romney last time. Its a state capital, so lots of government workers. And, the largest employers in the county use union labor. So, although KS leans right, Topeka is a mixed bag. Second, observations: Voting was 'brisk'...lots of people moving through. Almost no 'millennials' - in my mid 40's, I felt younger than most there. Almost no blacks vs 8% black population. I could not identify any Hispanics vs 11% Hispanic population. I did not see a sea of red hats or shirts...but really Kansas doesn't...

Despite news percolating throughout the country about non-citizens registering to vote under loose Motor-Voter practices, the courts are refusing to allow states to verify citizenship as a condition for registering to vote. Yesterday, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district court’s injunction against a Kansas law requiring those registering with federal Motor-Voter forms to show proof of citizenship. The original injunction forced the state to register 20,000 individuals who failed to show proof of citizenship. Now, that number could rise to 50,000.

TOPEKA, Kan. - For years, Kris Kobach has fought against illegal immigration. He helped write two of the nation's most strict immigration laws in Arizona and Alabama and helped develop a now-defunct national immigration security system. Now Kobach, the Republican secretary of state for Kansas, is embroiled in court fights over his repeated attempts to require Kansans to provide proof of citizenship to register to vote. Although he has repeatedly lost in court, one case that remains open will determine whether thousands of Kansans will be able to vote in November's local and state elections.

A Republican internal poll released Thursday shows Democrat Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump in the state’s 3rd Congressional District, a stretch of eastern Kansas that Mitt Romney won easily four years ago. Trump trails Clinton by a 44 percent to 38 percent margin, according to the survey of 400 likely general election voters polled over the weekend. Romney, a Republican, won the district by 10 points in 2012. The Public Opinion Strategies poll was released by the re-election campaign of U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, a Republican who has represented the 3rd District since 2011. The suburban, comparatively affluent district is...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Now, back to Bill Hemmer's question earlier today on Fox. He was talking to Karl Rove, and he said (summarized), "Karl, what if everything we think we know and understand about politics is wrong this year? What if every way we look at it is not at all correct? What if what's going on out there," meaning in America, "is so foreign, and so different, and so unique that the ways we...?" He really meant Rove and the whole Washington establishment political apparatus. "What if the way you look and analyze things, you can't possibly predict or...

Former Kansas senator and 1996 Republican nominee Bob Dole endorsed Donald Trump for president on Friday, calling for the GOP to unite around Trump in order to defeat Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee. Dole's support gives the GOP presumptive nominee the support of another party elder on a day when other top Republicans announced their opposition. Trump inconspicuously announced the endorsement earlier on Friday at a rally in Omaha, Nebraska, as he ticked off the names of several prominent Republicans who have come around to his candidacy since he became the party's presumptive nominee earlier this week.

Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, said Sunday he believes his Thursday speech against Donald Trump hurt the 2016 front-runner after he split Saturday's contests with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. "I think I had a big impact," Romney said Sunday on "Meet the Press." "I think a lot of people were surprised by how well Ted Cruz did.

From the get go when the Kansas caucuses closed, we had DETAILED numbers being reported for the Republican candidates. HOWEVER, despite the fact that Bernie Sanders has been declared to be the winner of the Kansas caucuses, I have seen NO NUMBERS reported. Does anybody have an answer for this? Or is this an example of the MSM cooperating with the Clinton campaign to slow down Bernie momentum for the evening? I don't often agree with the DUmmies but at their site they are loudly complaining about this and I think they are right this one time. I also seem...

Cruz is having a great day today. Congratulations, Cruz supporters. There's hope for your candidate. The better news for ALL of us is that Rubio is getting slaughtered. Now I want you all to think about the incoming that Trump and his supporters have endured for the last few weeks. And realize that the GOPe will never allow your candidate to rise, either. You're about to get hit harder than you can ever imagine. You're going to get hit by the media, the pundits, the talking-heads, the columnists, and the internet. We're all fighting for a better nation and I...

WICHITA, Kan. — Ted Cruz claimed the first prize in Saturday's four-state round of Republican voting, triumphing in Kansas as front-runner Donald Trump tried to pad his delegate lead in the fractious race for president. Democrats in three states were choosing between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Count Wichita's Barb Berry among those who propelled the Texas senator to victory in Kansas, his fifth win of the nominating race. "I believe that he is a true fighter for conservatives," said Berry, a 67-year-old retired AT&T manager. As for Trump, Berry said, "he is a little too narcissistic." Saturday's GOP races...

Senator Ted Cruz scored a hard-fought and decisive win in the Kansas caucuses on Saturday, demonstrating his enduring appeal among conservatives as he tries to reel in Donald J. Trump’s significant lead in the Republican presidential race. Mr. Cruz’s victory illustrated the doubts about Mr. Trump that still linger among the sort of traditional Republicans who attend time-intensive party caucuses. With results still being tallied, Mr. Trump appeared to finish well behind Mr. Cruz, with Senator Marco Rubio of Florida taking third.
