President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday promised measures to help prevent foreign investors buying agricultural land in France after a string of international controversies over Chinese purchases. “For me, French agricultural lands are strategic investments on which our sovereignty depends, so we can’t allow hundreds of hectares of land to be bought by foreign powers without us knowing the aims of these purchases,” Macron told a crowd of young farmers at the presidential palace. He was referring to news last year that a Chinese fund had bought 900 hectares of land in the cereal-growing Allier region in central France, following an...

Just started seeing it today go on full bore. The LACK OF CURIOSITY was there from almost the moment it was discovered that Broward LEOs were called 30+ times to killer Nikolas Cruz's home. The FBI hasn't done much to stop killer Nikolas Cruz either. Now, Broward sheriff Scott Israel, good friend of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, has issued a statement saying HE will handle any problem in his department. Local Miami media is apparently satisfied with that. Now, back to attacking the Constitution, the NRA, Rick Scott and Donald Trump.

Next week, France will hand over 3,000 sq m (3,200 sq ft) of its territory to Spain without a single shot being fired. But in six months' time Spain will voluntarily hand back the land to France. As Chris Bockman reports, it's been that way for more than 350 years. The French Basque beach resort of Hendaye is the last town before the border with Spain. Out of season, its beautiful curved sandy bay seems to be occupied by hundreds of seals. But look more closely and they are, in fact, defiant winter surfers in wetsuits. Just beyond a long...

The Minister for Education, Richard Bruton has confirmed the change in a circular released today, stating that it is a constitutional right for students who chose not to participate in religion class to be offered an alternative, meaningful program. Community and ETB (Education and Training Board) schools will now offer students a different subject, should they opt out of studying religion. Previously, students who chose not to partake in religious education — which required parental consent and approval from the school principle (sic) — were forced to sit at the back of the class or in the library with no...

It was an idyllic but cold holiday morning near Daly City's Thornton Beach, the kind of morning that draws families and dog walkers to the coast. But just after 11:30 a.m., one man's attempt to save his dog cost him his life. The National Park Service confirms the 67-year-old man was trying to get to his stranded dog, which had made its way part way down a cliff, just west of Skyline Drive. But then he slipped and fell as many as 500 feet to his death. Firefighters had to race to beat the high tide to get to the...
