The likeness of Michael Jackson was spotted in the clouds over central Virginia earlier this week, moon-walking through a thunderstorm. The photo went viral in the local news circuit and on social media — or at least as viral as a cloud story can go. You can see him in the top center of the photo above, taken in Goochland County, Va., on Tuesday by John Plashal. It’s a bit of a stretch, but I suppose it’s feasible that the King of Pop, with his quintessential black pants + white shirt combo is visible without much of a head or left...

Meadows said Virginia State Police informed him they would patrol the area, but said that’s all they could do for now.

The Jerusalem Rabbinate was forced this week to announce the nullification of a marriage it had performed, when it became clear that the groom was actually a transgender man, thus making the marriage invalid according to Jewish law. The saga began when the couple approached the Rabbinate to register for marriage. The Rabbinate saw that the woman was pregnant, and the man claimed the fetus was his child. […] However, two weeks later, the Rabbinate received information that the man married had not actually been born a man, and was previously a woman who had sex reassignment surgery in 2013....

A Fort Smith School Board committee passed a motion Tuesday (June 23) to ban the “Dixie” song during the 2015-2016 school year and to replace the rebel mascot for the 2016-2017 school year. The motion passed five to zero. Susan McFerran, a member of the school board, said the decision comes after the mass shooting in Charleston, South Carolina and a recent class reunion. “There was a 30 year class reunion this weekend,” she said. “It came to our attention that the public has been pretty upset about the Confederate flag, which has already been removed, the rebel mascot [and]...

A California high school where a majority of juniors opted out of Common Core testing has backed off of plans to ban the students from using the school’s parking lot and from taking part in senior class activities after parents and education groups raised a fuss. C.J. Foss, principal of Calabasas High School in Los Angeles County, last week sent an email to seniors-to-be announcing that certain privileges would be withheld from students who skipped the controversial test, which detractors say is an attempt to nationalize America’s public education system. Although the test, which critics say dictates curriculum, is widely...

Children are creating their own black markets to trade and sell salt due to First Lady Michelle Obama’s school lunch rules. During a hearing before the House, a school administrator told Congress of the “unintended consequences” of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. “Perhaps the most colorful example in my district is that students have been caught bringing–and even selling–salt, pepper, and sugar in school to add taste to perceived bland and tasteless cafeteria food,” said John S. Payne. “Students are avoiding cafeteria food,” Payne said. “More students bring their lunch, and a few parents even ‘check out’ their child from...

For years, Chillicothe, Ohio, was known as just another notch on the Rust Belt, afflicted by the same old problems of drugs, poverty and unemployment. If the town ever made national news, it was because a presidential candidate stopped by vowing to fix things, only for those promises to evaporate after Election Day. But in the past couple of months, Chillicothe has crept back into headlines for something other than a stump speech. Something much darker. Something evil. Chillicothe is no longer just another Rust Belt town. Now it’s the place where women go missing and wash up dead. In...

As she walked home, the woman found herself struggling to lift her increasingly numb feet. She fell to the ground,...

With Rachel Dolezal being in the news, I thought now would be the perfect time to write an article on this subject. “He told us that the silks he carried were the same kind that our people used in their home country, and that he was from there. So we asked him to tell us about our own country.” Scholar C Eric Lincoln wrote this about Wallace Fard Muhammad, the founder of Nation of Islam. The man known as Fard came to Detroit claiming to know all of how the blacks should correctly live. The culture hungry blacks invited him into...
