The state of Utah has denied it has anti-gay school laws as it defends itself from a lawsuit challenging restrictions on talk about homosexuality in the classroom. They say the state school board is immune from a lawsuit and ask for the case to be dismissed. The National Center for Lesbian Rights argues the ban on so-called advocacy of homosexuality stigmatizes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students. …

Myskoxe.se, a Swedish website dedicated to musk oxen, is keeping detailed track of his journey, posting brief updates and paparazzi-style photos. “Brutus is out hiking,” they wrote on September 12. “What he has in mind—it is not known.”...

Talking on his radio show, Hughley recounted racist quotes from past presidents — including quotes from Democratic heroes such as Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson. Hughley then went on to argue that Trump’s win shouldn’t be so shocking given that our country has long looked the other way when it comes to electing white people who look down upon black Americans. “I think America is used to people like Trump,” Hughley said. “See, we thought Barack Obama changed America. Barack Obama was the intermission… For eight years we got, ‘Oh wow, things are moving along!’ You can go get drinks,...

It is a name that has lost its luster this season. “Seeing these lights dark for the first time since we’ve moved here is really hard,” said Bob Zajac, owner of the now dim Christmas House. “My kids are disappointed and our community is disappointed and I struggle...
