Small Business Goals, Rewards and Incentives* By: Larry Walker, Jr. *“Contrariwise, if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic.” ~ Lewis Carroll *In his latest weekly address, Mr. Obama outlined a mirage of goals, rewards and incentives which he says Congress ‘must’ act upon immediately. But for the most part, what he proffered is just more of the same tried and failed policies, conjured from the same line of illogical reasoning we’ve heard, time and time again, over the last four years. Therefore, what Mr....

The point where we reach the limits of civil debate about policy is, like Justice Potter Stewart’s famous description of pornography, hard to define but you generally know it when you see it. That’s the only possible reaction to a blog post by Jerusalem Post columnist Larry Derfner who wrote on Sunday to say the actions of the terrorists who murdered eight Israelis near Eilat last week were justified. Yes, you read that right.

That is exactly what postmillennialism believes about the victory of the Gospel. History will see the progressive triumph of the Gospel not only over individuals, families and churches, but also over nations, cultures, and governments. Nation after nation will submit to Christ; they will change their customs, mores, and legal systems to reflect the Law of God. More and more the Gospel will change the hearts of men but also their institutions and their societies; more and more the Biblical worldview will become the operational worldview for the powers and authorities in the land. The church will experience its ups...

Donald Trump. Really? The federal government is running out of money. The country's armed forces are involved in three wars. President Obama has kick-started his reelection campaign. And who is getting the most ink as a potential Republican presidential candidate? The Donald. Seriously? "I have never been so serious as I am now," says Trump, who was also a potential candidate in 2000, 2004, and 2008. What Trump is really serious about is his brand name. "I have great respect for Donald Trump, but that's the last thing the country needs is a showboat," said Glenn Beck in a recent...

Imagine for a moment that you were ticketed for speeding by the state police. Suppose that you lied to the cop about why you were driving so fast. Then imagine that a group of special-interest lawyers contacted you and told you they wanted to appeal your ticket to the Supreme Court, and they gave you a legal pseudonym to hide your identity. Now imagine that the Court ruled that the ancient Romans had no speed limit on the Appian Way, that the Germans have no speed limits on the autobahn, and that speed limits are a violation of the Constitution...

Even the honest atheist will agree that a first cause, an original being, must have preceded the universe. This original cause or source is what so humbled Einstein, although he incorrectly described it as a religious experience. The questions of faith begin with how we understand this First Cause, its nature, and its relationship to us and to the universe.

The main tactic used by the left against the right is to characterize any candidate, no matter how educated or intelligent, as a boob. They have made an industry out of George Bush's speaking errors. And now, they are throttling up the campaign against Gov. Sarah Palin. The most recent is when she accidentally said, "North Korea" when she meant "South Korea."This is from ThinkProgress: Palin misspoke, but this was hardly the first time. While malapropisms can and should be forgiven for frequent public speakers, it’s worth remembering what happened the last time America elected a candidate known for gaffes. Oliver Willis...

It's possible that while President Barack Obama was a student at Columbia, he wasn't the library monk he claimed to be and was actually still hanging out with the "Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets.”Which would explain the D average in his classes and the F in Economics.Do I have any evidence Obama received these marks at Columbia?Well, do you have any proof he didn't?That's the logic Obama hatchet man David Axelrod used on "Face the Nation" this weekend. "This part about foreign money, that appears to be peanuts," said CBS chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer. "Mr....

“Ours is an age of religious cacophony, as was the Roman Empire of Christ’s time. From agnosticism to Hegelianism, from devil-worship to scientific rationalism, from theosophical cults to philosophies of process: virtually any worldview conceivable is offered to modern man in the pluralistic marketplace of ideas. Our age is indeed in ideological and societal agony, grasping at anything and everything that can conceivably offer the ecstasy of a cosmic relationship or of a comprehensive Weltanschauung [worldview].”[1] Read more: http://religiopoliticaltalk.com/2010/09/worldview-defined-and-explained/

Our friend Steve McIntyre hears this fallacy a lot. McIntyre has published on his blog many true statements about the climate that are disliked or are unwanted by mainstream climate scientists. Instead of trying to answer, or to refute, McIntyre’s results, these global warming advocates dismiss them because they have not been peer reviewed and published. Unfortunately, this fallacy—as shockingly obvious as it is—is usually accepted as proof of refutation. That is, it is thought that a refutation has been demonstrated merely because a credentialed scientist cast an aspersion. Journalists—God love ‘em—are particularly eager to swallow this faulty line of...

So I'm thinking the Federal Government could force us to buy $100,000 of whole life insurance in our early working years with part of the social security *donation* and name the US Government as beneficiary. That way, when we die (not if) the $100K goes back into the SS & Medicare funds. Actually - it's a better idea than what we have now!!!!

There is outrage, Outrage!, that health insurance costs more for a young woman than a young man.Gender-rating — or what some term as flat-out sexual discrimination — is linked to the simple fact that women, particularly those under age 50 or so, go to the doctor more often than men. (Denver Post) Insurance is more for women because they go to the doctor more often, and it costs more to provide them health services. Insurance companies are in business to make money, and their profit margin is much smaller, say, than the "medical marijuana" dispensaries going up all over the...

Climate-Gate has certainly dealt a tremendous blow to the validity of the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) theory, but some die-hard ignoramuses continue to assert it is true. Aside from outright reductio ad absurdum, AGW enthusiasts also frequently justify their belief using logical fallacies. I will cover a few of the more common logical fallacies (note that these are commonly used to defend many other ill-contrived ideas):

In 2003, ex-sailor and then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, said the following: As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say, we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don’t know we don’t know. Many in the mainstream press chuckled warmly upon hearing this. “What a typical, right-wing dolt!” they thought to themselves. Some said so out loud. For a brief while, it was enough to induce a laugh among our betters...

"If an object is a polygon then it is a triangle (false)."You can’t solve a problem until it has been defined. The Federal government, once again, has failed to define the problem. Being led by the novice, Nobel Prize Winning, Barack Obama, the Congress has become another hostage on the road to Socialism. What is the real problem? The ProblemFirstly, per the Bureau of Labor Statistics, since the start of the recession in December 2007, the number of unemployed persons has increased by 7.6 million to 15.1 million, and the unemployment rate has doubled to 9.8 percent (1). Secondly, per my...

Wolves do better on some tests of logic than dogs, a new study found, revealing differences between the animals that scientists suspect result from dogs' domestication. In experiments, dogs followed human cues to perform certain tasks despite evidence they could see suggesting a different strategy would be smarter, while wolves made the more logical choice based on their observations. In fact, dogs' responses were similar to human infants, who also prioritize following the example of adult humans.
