Once again we are in the Christmas season, and the coal-in-your-stocking crowd is back at it. This year the American Humanist Association is putting up bus ads in selected cities that say, "No god? No problem! Be good for goodness sake." The picture accompanying the text shows a group of young people wearing Santa hats. Ho, ho, ho. A second front was launched by the virulently anti-God group "Freedom from Religion." It is celebrating Christmas in Las Vegas with ads that say, "Yes, Virginia, there is no God." Nice. The question is, why bother? Why spend money at Christmas time...

Five years ago today, a luminous young producer at Fox News named Andrea Mackris enriched all of our lives just a little bit by suing a lecherous fathead named Bill O'Reilly for trying to rub falafel on her private parts. The good people at The Smoking Gun are revisiting Mackris' sexual harrassment complaint against O'Reilly, just for kicks, and we recommend you do, too—it's got everything! [T]the Fox News Channel host was named in a sexual harassment lawsuit brimming with lurid details about vibrators, phone sex, threesomes, masturbation, Caribbean shower fantasies, a Thai sex show, falafel, stewardess trysts, vehicular coupling,...

Big birthday this week: Fox News Channel is 13 years old. I was there on Oct. 7, 1996, when the channel was launched with about 15 million subscribers. Now we have about 90 million. Back then, if "The Factor" received 50 e-mails a day we were happy. Now, we average about 2,000 electronic letters daily. FNC is perhaps the biggest media success since the networks were formed in the 1940s. Fox News is a billion-dollar enterprise that dominates cable news ratings and is consistently in the top five of all cable programs. Simply put, FNC is on fire even after...

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: In the "Impact" segment tonight: controversy still raging over Attorney General Eric Holder's decision to appoint a special prosecutor to look into alleged CIA abuses in the interrogations of about a dozen terror suspects. ABC News is reporting that CIA chief Leon Panetta confronted some high-level White House people and even used obscenities in the heated discussion. Joining us now from ABC News headquarters in New York, the chief investigative reporter for that outfit, Brian Ross. So we're hearing it was Rahm Emanuel that Leon Panetta went toe to toe with. Is that what you're hearing? BRIAN...

I have a challenge to my old buddy Bill O'Reilly – put up or shut up! You told your viewers this week that challenges to Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility are "bogus." You claimed you and your news organization examined Obama's birth certificate last year and found it to be in order. Can I ask a question, Bill? Why don't you simply reveal to your viewers exactly what you saw and what you found? Fox News Channel's slogan is, "We report, you decide." Why don't you try actually reporting the story, rather than deciding for us? Here's the story, Bill, whether...

(Note: this report is a paraphrase based on memory, not tape. Any inaccuracies will be corrected down thread by me or other FReepers.)Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly responded on The Factor tonight to criticisms of his attacks last night on Free Republic and Hot Air by the sites' respective founders, Jim Robinson and Michelle Malkin. The segment last night was on reaction by right and left wing websites on the Judge Sotomayor nomination to the Supreme Court. Free Republic was singled out for an obnoxious comment about Sotomayor being diabetic. Hot Air was singled out for an impolitic strongly...

Bill O'Reilly went on David Letterman as part of his quest to get more attention than Rush Limbaugh and his Fox News Channel sibling rival Glenn Beck. Fat chance: Judging from a preview of tonight's Late Show, O'Reilly spent a lot of time answering questions about... Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. To preserve his ego, the O'Reilly Factor host called his rival Limbaugh a "straw man" who "nobody takes seriously" as the purported head of the Republican party. He also claimed personal credit for the right-wing radio host's recent ratings surge (since O'Reilly recently ended his own radio show). Beck...

Here’s the no-spin truth: Bill O’Reilly offers a fairer, more balanced version of the latest political headlines than MSNBC’s nighttime ideologues. Don’t get me wrong. The Fox News commentator remains the most combustible on-air personality since Morton Downey Jr. and his ideological tilt on some topics, like limited government and coerced interrogation, would still raise eyebrows from an in-his-prime Walter Cronkite. But quietly, and with little fanfare, O’Reilly has been doing his best to not only offer both sides of key partisan debates, but also treat President Barack Obama with respect. He recently told a reporter that second-guessing the new...

Bill O'Reilly is going to be sticking around the Fox News Channel for another four years. The top-rated cable news network is expected to announce as soon as Wednesday that O'Reilly has signed a new multi-year contract. The deal is estimated to be worth between $10 million and $12 million a year. What O'Reilly won't be doing for the next four years, apparently, is his daily radio show. RELATED: GLENN BECK NOW FOX NEWS' TOP STORY O'Reilly told The News Tuesday that he's reevaluating his syndicated radio program and will likely give it up. "I can't work 60 hours day....

I DID fall off my chair! Here are direct quotes from Bill O'Reilly's opening segment this evening: 1. Obama is a brilliant politician 2. I don’t have a problem with Barak Obama 3. Obama has been up front about who he is 4. Obama has been more consistent 5. He isn’t a deceiver He may as well join the ranks of Kathleen Parker and other (ex)conservative media that are now very comfortable with an Obama Presidency. FOX today ok'd delaying the World Series for Obama's TV appearance. We use to at least be able to depend on FOX. Those...

I am not a big fan of Bill O'Reilly, but why is he doing the job of the Main Street Media by himself? Why are the Republicans so mute? TUNE IN NOW! BOR is going to talk about the romantic involvement with a Fannie Mae executive. We know the drill folks, but tune in while SOMEONE in the media is bothering to cover the facts.

"They're lying to you. They're rich, these guys."

Mark Levin played an excerpt of O'Reilly's radio show where O'Reilly said this was Bush's fault because it happened on his watch. It wasn't Clintoon's fault, that the right wing radio hosts were telling lies to their listeners. Mark took Ted Baxter to the woodshed over this. Only got to hear the first half hour of the Mark Levin show so was wondering if he sliced and diced O'Reilly more. O'Reilly also put Rush down. Don't know if Sean Hannity has had any comments or not, but seeing as he is a right wing talk show host who's tv show...

I very rarely start threads and never have started a “VANITY” thread before but I just couldn’t resist. So please forgive me this once. My lament is simply: Why do people like Bill O Reilly and Shawn Hannity and many supposed Conservatives boast about how THEY would like a shot at interviewing the Liberal royalty like Hillary, Obama et. al. – and then given the chance, treat them with kid gloves and allow them to spin the conversation away from specific, pointed answers? OReilly’s interview with Hillary was a joke and this latest with Obama is an absolute embarrassment. From...

I just watched the interview, and it is clear Scott McClellan is a Judas. He revels in the left talking points and has a smirk throughout the interview. At the end of the day when the interviews are done and the book no longer sells, Scott will have no friends. The left will not want him and the right will never touch him. Get a dog Scott, he will be your only friend. Or he might not like you either. Can't blame him, dogs are smart. History will frame you as the Judas Benedict Arnold you are.

CAMP EGGERS, Afghanistan - Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines from the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan at Camp Eggers came out to meet with Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly, Nov. 16. The bestselling author, two time Emmy winning journalist and host on Fox News, “The O’Reilly Factor” spent more than two hours signing pictures, T-shirts, mugs, books, guitars and other personal articles.

NEW YORK - Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly said Wednesday his critics took remarks he made about a famed Harlem restaurant out of context and "fabricated a racial controversy where none exists." He criticized the liberal group Media Matters for America as "smear merchants" for publicizing statements he made on his radio show last week. O'Reilly told his radio audience that he dined with civil rights activist Al Sharpton at Sylvia's recently and "couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference" between the black-run restaurant and others in New York City. It was just like a suburban Italian...

*** EXCLUSIVE TO THE RADIO EQUALIZER *** Though not yet confirmed by the man himself, top- level industry sources tell the Radio Equalizer that Bill O'Reilly is giving up his nationally syndicated radio show. We're hearing his last broadcast will occur sometime in December. Carried by as many as 400 stations, the Radio Factor has turned in mixed results nationwide, with a strong performance in several major markets. It airs in most of the largest American cities, including Los Angeles, New York City and Boston. Kicking off in May, 2002, the show initially had about 200 affiliates. With Rush Limbaugh...

Bill O'Reilly probably said the stupidest thing I've ever heard him say on "The Factor" two weeks ago. In an interview segment with Bernie Goldberg and Jane Hall about the rise of hatred on the Internet, O'Reilly said: "There should be laws in the civil arena to deal with this." To be fair, O'Reilly was talking about allowing people to sue for defamation of character – which is entirely reasonable. However, the fact that Bill married that concept to the notion of "hate speech on the web" is what troubles me. O'Reilly is an intelligent guy. He knows that Web...

The Honorable Harold Ford, Jr. Chairman Democratic Leadership Council 600 Pennsylvania Ave., SE, Suite 400 Washington, D.C. 20003 Dear Rep. Ford, I appeared with you on the O’Reilly Factor on July 31, 2007, in my capacity as spokesman for FreeRepublic.com to discuss politics on the Internet. The host, Bill O’Reilly, falsely accused FreeRepublic.com of having the following comments on its site: "Homosexuals are dogs," "I hate blacks," "Hillary Clinton should be assassinated," and "A stray bullet should kill her." To be blunt, those comments were made up by the O’Reilly Factor. The O’Reilly Factor was not able to provide documentation...

On tonight's O'Reilly Factor, Bill used the Souther Poverty Law Center as an authority on "hate groups". This is the same organization run by notorious race hustler Morris Dees, a man local Montgomery Alabama area black residents accuse of being a con man that takes their money, yet does little (including hiring black attorneys for the SPLC). There are several references online to Dees con-artistry. Everyone from National Review to The Nation has called Dees out, yet O'Reilly has given him credibility. The SPLC has tarred a large number of groups with the "hate" label that are nothing of the...

<p>You've got a tough job up there in the clouds riding herd over the folks. Apparently you're having problems with the folks speaking out against the America hating left. But that's ok. You Tube video of The O'Reilly Factor with Kristinn Taylor speaking for Free Republic. Bill O'Reilly makes claims about Freerepublic.com to spin us into a right wing hate site.

Hi Bill, I've been a subscriber to Free Republic for about two years. I've been involved in a lot of Freeper discussion groups and have led several threads, including one where I identified myself as a black Freeper, with no blatantly racial kickback. What the Freeper spokesman should have mentioned is that the discussion threads are SELF-POLICING...when someone gets out of line, my experience has been that somewhere down the thread, THEY WILL BE CALLED ON IT. Free Republic is first and foremost, a meeting place for conservatives. The discussions run overwhelmingly along ideological lines, that at times have racial...

One of my favorite western movies ever is "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," a sprawling three-hour Sergio Leone shoot-'em-up where Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach star as weapons of mass destruction. I like this film because it's easy to understand: Three macho guys are looking for gold, and you better not get in their way, podner. The old American West was a place where men were men and women were, well, in short supply. I mean, covering thousands of miles in a dusty covered wagon wasn't exactly an enchanting experience for the ladies. Don't even...
