That didn’t take long. Tom Brady announced on Sunday night that he is returning for his 23rd season, just six weeks after he retired from the NFL. In a Twitter post, Brady said he would be returning to the Buccaneers. “These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” Brady wrote. “That time will come.

A mannequin, covered with blankets and positioned to resemble a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk, was attacked with a hammer near downtown Las Vegas. The suspect told Las Vegas police he knew it wasn’t a human. But homicide detectives who staged the mannequin scene say they believe 30-year-old Shane Schindler was out to kill. Two homeless men were bludgeoned to death within a month’s time earlier this year, and Schindler’s arrest report indicates that he attacked the police decoy in a similar fashion. Schindler appeared in court this week, facing one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

Clark County commissioners approved Tuesday the payment of $150,000 to settle a lawsuit by a former University Medical Center data technician diagnosed with claustrophobia, a condition that arose when she was forced to work in a cubicle. Jayne Feshold was a data technician hired by the county-run hospital in 1999. Her suit says she "worked without incident" until May 2007. Then the hospital's medical records department was moved to a new building and she was assigned to work in an area "consisting of a small cubicle workspace instead of a more open environment."

In the first test of the county’s new rules for reviewing police-involved deaths, officers connected with the Dec. 11 death of a suspect who was shot with a Taser are refusing to cooperate with investigators. Their refusal to make voluntary statements to Metro’s Force Investigation Team is on the advice of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association, said Chris Collins, president of the officers union. From Collins’ standpoint, not only is the officers’ refusal to cooperate the right thing to do, it marks the beginning of the end of the coroner’s inquest system. The system, in use for 40 years,...

In the aftermath of yesterdays' shooting at the courthouse in Las Vegas, I was struck by how quickly the junior senator from Nevada showed up on camera, (John Ensign (R) apparently has an office there). I realise that these slimeballs are on vacation, but this guys polling numbers are almost as far in the tank as dingy harry's are. And while he didn't grandstand too badly, I wonder how long it will take for for the dims to start screaming about how dangerous the American public has become, and what should be done to protect their imperial asses.

An image of Sarah Palin's 7-year-old daughter, Piper, carrying a Louis Vuitton bag popped up on Huffington Post. We noted yesterday that Sarah Palin couldn't afford designer threads of her own, and this only proves our theory since the bag is a fake. (You can tell because the LV logo is hitting the seam on the bottom of the bag instead of being centered on that panel where a symbol is.) Though from a financial standpoint the bag's more Joe Six-Pack than a new Escada blazer, counterfeit rings employ child labor and fund drug trafficking. So that purse could be...

(CNN) -- Police in Las Vegas, Nevada, are investigating the discovery of what they believe to be ricin at an extended stay hotel Thursday. Authorities were called to an Extended Stay America hotel after staff found a suspicious substance in one of the rooms. "They determined it might be some biological agent, and through presumptive tests, we determined it to be ricin," said Capt. Joe Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. "We don't know who it belongs to or why it would be here at this time." Three hotel employees and a fourth person who came to the...
