The Left keeps insisting that unvarnished progressivism holds the key to future Democratic Party success. A new poll from WBUR suggests it might not even be the future of Democratic success in Massachusetts. Only 44 percent think Elizabeth Warren should win another term in the Senate, while slightly more say they’ve seen enough: Over four years in office, Elizabeth Warren has staked her claim as the Senate’s liberal lion. And many Massachusetts voters like it — 51 percent view her favorably. But according to a new WBUR poll, only 44 percent think Warren “deserves reelection.” Forty-six percent think voters ought...

Gov. Charlie Baker revealed Monday that he had spoken by phone with President-elect Donald Trump, whom he did not support, after his election. Although the conversation was private, this column has obtained a totally bogus, invented transcript of the conversation. It went like this:
  • Don't expect Trump to extend Mass. a green line

The way things are going, Donald Trump is going to have to get a restraining order against Elizabeth Warren. The senior senator from Massachusetts, with her extreme and escalating rhetoric against Trump, is acting as though she's unhinged. It is either a restraining order or a call in to Attorney General Maura Healey's new hate crime hotline that was set up following Trump's election to report acts of intimidation or harassmen

Gov. Charlie Baker, the state's most prominent Republican, did not cast a vote for president of the United States for the first time in his life today. "This is the first time I haven't voted for president and I'm obviously disappointed about that," Baker said outside The First Church in Swampscott, where he was 40th in line to vote - his wife Lauren, 39th - at 7 a.m. in a 35-degree chill. Baker also passed on penning a write-in candidate. "But you know what? I have lots of friends who are voting for Hillary Clinton. I have lots of friends...

PROVINCETOWN, Mass. — It was a very busy, very lucrative weekend for Hillary Clinton in the summer playground of the East Coast's moneyed elite. She brunched with wealthy backers at a seaside estate in Nantucket, snacking on shrimp dumplings and crabcakes. A few hours later, she and her husband dined with an intimate party of thirty at a secluded Martha's Vineyard estate. And on Sunday afternoon, she joined the singer Cher at a "LGBT summer celebration" on the far reaches of Cape Cod. By Sunday evening, Clinton had spoken to more than 2,200 campaign donors. But what she told the...

Hillary Clinton dropped by the resort island of Martha’s Vineyard over the weekend to pick up more than $1 million in campaign contributions during an elegant party at the summer home of one of her most devoted supporters. Thirty people contributed $50,000 apiece to attend the Saturday night function at the home of Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a wealthy investment manager so committed to Clinton that she couldn’t bring herself to vote for then-Sen. Barack Obama after he defeated her candidate in 2008. President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were on the island at the time of the Saturday...

Attended a county seniors' picnic today as a staff member helping serve over 1,200 lunches. Toward the end of the lunch the MC asked the audience whether they would vote for Clinton or Trump. Clinton voters were in the clear majority. Disappointing from people who should know better.

ANDOVER (CBS) – A woman was arrested after she allegedly vandalized a resident’s Donald Trump campaign sign and nearly ran over the homeowner as she tried to speed away. Andover Police said Susan Bryant of North Reading spray painted the Trump sign on Jenkins Road early Saturday morning. One side of the sign was painted with “Putin’s (expletive),” a reference to Trump’s purported relationship with Russia’s Vladimir Putin. On the other side, Bryant allegedly painted “Gold Star Fail!” When homeowner Art Gonsalves confronted Bryant, she allegedly drove off erratically, forcing the victim to run out of the way of her...

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Nina Turner, the Democratic former state senator from Cleveland who has emerged as a rallying figure for Bernie Sanders' disappointed supporters, said she is considering an offer to run for vice president on the Green Party's national ticket. Massachusetts physician Jill Stein, the party's presumptive presidential nominee, reached out with the pitch, Turner told cleveland.com Sunday evening in a telephone interview. The Green Party opens its convention Thursday in Houston. Turner would stand for nomination there if she agrees to be Stein's running mate. Her decision is expected in the coming days.

The MassGOP’s one-time national committeewoman will helm a push by social conservatives to put the state’s newly signed transgender rights law to a ballot question, nudging the state party — led by bill signer, Gov. Charlie Baker — into an
awkward position. Chanel Prunier, who lost her seat as the state’s national committeewoman this spring, has signed on as chairwoman of the ballot question committee, Keep Massachusetts Safe, which will push to repeal the law Baker signed earlier this month that bans discrimination against transgender people in public places, including restaurants, bathrooms and locker rooms. The law’s opponents have petitioned...

Elizabeth Warren has been attacking Trump lately: [Excerpt] The night of Donald Trump’s big Indiana Republican primary win, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., was ready. She tore loose with a series of late-night anti-Trump tweets in which she accused him of racism, sexism, xenophobia, narcissism and a host of other faults. Two weeks earlier, after being asked about another Warren tweet storm in which she accused him of being "a loser," Trump fired a warning shot across Warren's bow. "Who's that, the Indian? You mean the Indian," he responded, referring to a well-known political controversy over Warren claiming Indian heritage. The...

The city of Revere gave Donald Trump his largest margin of victory in Massachusetts' March 1 Republican primary. "I hate to say that I grew up not liking people. I mean, I like Americans. I just despise other people right now, non-Americans," said Anthony Paolini, 55, a disabled construction worker. "Just the way they act, they're taking over all the jobs. You can't even get a job. My niece went to school five years, she's working at McDonald's." "I just believe that (Donald) Trump can change this country," Paolini said. "He talks from the heart. He's got balls." Paolini is...

Nearly 20,000 Bay State Democrats have fled the party this winter, with thousands doing so to join the Republican ranks, according to the state's top elections official. Secretary of State William Galvin said more than 16,300 Democrats have shed their party affiliation and become independent voters since Jan. 1, while nearly 3,500 more shifted to the MassGOP ahead of tomorrow's "Super Tuesday" presidential primary. Galvin called both "significant" changes that dwarf similar shifts ahead of other primary votes, including in 2000, when some Democrats flocked from the party in order to cast a vote for Sen. John McCain in the...
  • Poll: Trump Blowout in Massachusetts

Donald Trump's lead in a new Suffolk University poll among likely Republican primary voters in Massachusetts days voters head to the polls on Super Tuesday is, in a word, huge. Trump leads the field with 43 percent, more than 20 points ahead of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who finished in second with 20 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich finished close behind with 17 percent, followed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with 9 percent and Ben Carson with 4 percent. Just 7 percent of voters remain undecided among those candidates
