MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (Feb. 24, 2006) -- Most Marines strive to be the best at what they do, but only a select few can claim they were the "first" in history to accomplish something. Like Samuel Nicholas who became the first Marine officer in 1775, Opha Mae Johnson who became the first female Marine in 1918 or Carol A. Mutter who became the first female major general in 1994. Through hard work and dedication, Kimberly D. Walker joined these distinguished Marines in February when she became the first female master gunnery sergeant to serve as a combat...

Every time I bring up the Holocaust, the same thing happens. Some of the people want Hitler's genocide to be the archetype of a people's suffering, denying others their right to bring similar atrocities to light. Some want to deny it (like current Iranian President Ahmadinejad). Some want to straddle the line or apologize: "There would have been no Hitler if not for the reparation payments put upon Germany after World War I." What are we to do, create a chart ranking peoples' suffering: "mine was worse than yours?" These were all horrors. Calling one a genocide while not allowing...

Premiere for Stalin satire bedevilled by setbacks and superstition From Jeremy Page in Moscow One of the finest novels of the Soviet era is at last adapted for Russian TV THE DEVIL is coming back to Moscow today — or at least to its television screens. Russia’s first television production of The Master and Margarita, the satirical novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, is due to begin tonight after 20 years of failed attempts to bring it to the screen. And the ten-part mini-series of arguably the greatest novel to emerge from the Soviet Union is already causing a sensation, especially in...

Voter rejection of special election Propositions 75, 76 and 77 is especially bad news for taxpayers. The big winners were government employee union bosses who will continue to exercise unbridled power over their members as well as the state budget process. The second biggest winner is the tax-and-spend majority in the Legislature whose reelection is now assured. Union leaders spent over $100 million to defeat measures that would have required them to get permission before taking union members' money for political purposes, that would have put mild limits on increases in state spending, and that would have created more competitive...

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY: MODERN DAY SLAVE MASTER Posted by Jason Saine on 2005/1/18 20:47:06 By J. Matt Barber As a little girl in segregated Birmingham Alabama, Condoleezza Rice, like so many other black Americans, often experienced systematic racism rooted in old-fashioned hatred. On a balmy September morning in 1963 that hatred manifest to sight, the vile portrait of pure evil. A group of radical white supremacists bombed a Birmingham church in a black neighborhood killing four little girls. One of those little girls, Denise McNair, was a friend to Condoleezza Rice. From her humble beginnings in the Deep South, to...

This is a large read (a whole web site) but I am going to paste some of it below the editorial note EDITORIAL NOTE From May 2, 1936, to October 10, 1939, I was a dues-paying member of the Communist Party, operating under my own name, Kenneth Goff, and also the alias John Keats. In 1939, I voluntarily appeared before the Un-American Activities Committee in Washington, D.C., which was chairmanned at that time by Martin Dies, and my testimony can be found in Volume 9 of that year's Congressional Report. During the period that I was a member of the...

FFF EMAIL UPDATE -- May 17, 2002 The Future of Freedom Foundation, Fairfax, Va. -- Advancing ideas on liberty for you -- A FFF THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK "Let us determine that we shall not allow the state to be our master, but that we shall be the masters of the state. The long road of history is lined with the ruins of those states which bought the souls and the wills of their peoples by the lure of a granted security, and then led them to ruin by the same mirage. The world does not need one more such...
