A woman has been found guilty of shooting her husband to death in a murder case witnessed by a parrot. Glenna Duram, 49, shot her husband Martin five times in front of their pet in 2015, before failing in a suicide attempt. The parrot, an African Grey named Bud, is alleged to have later repeated the words “Don’t shoot!” in the victim’s voice. Duram, of Sand Lake, Michigan, was found guilty of first-degree murder by a jury. She will be sentenced next month. The parrot was not involved in any court proceedings.

A lawsuit filed in federal court on Monday alleges the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) violated the gun rights of foster parents. Caseworkers from MDHHS and a county judge told William Johnson of Ontonagon, Mich., that he had to choose between his Second Amendment rights and fostering his grandson, according to a complaint filed with the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
