Apple iOS 9.0 is available now. It has all types of updates including Siri's that can do a lot more than in the past, maps, automated battery management so your device battery will last longer, etc.... Here is what I had to do in order to download it. 1) You have to have a WIFI connection to download. 2) Make sure your device is plugged in the wall too. 3) Go to your "Settings" App 4) Go to "General" 5) Go to "Software Update" and you have to "Agree" to the new policy in order to download it. **Notes** Both...

Donald Trump is finally getting to President Obama. On Wednesday, the president defended America’s economic standing in the world. And, ahead of the second GOP primary debate Wednesday night—and without ever saying his name—he unveiled a hearty defense against the business mogul and GOP front-runner. “In the echo chamber that is presidential politics, everything is dark and everything is terrible,” he lamented at the Business Roundtable headquarters in Washington. Presidential candidates, “don’t seem to offer many solutions for the disasters that they perceive, but they’re quick to tell you who to blame.” He continued: “I’m here to say there’s nothing...

Before its acclaimed premiere at TIFF, 'Truth' — about the scandal that ended the anchor's CBS News career — was screened for a special viewer: CBS president and CEO Moonves, who was not impressed. Truth, director James Vanderbilt's drama about the "Memogate" scandal that ended Dan Rather's CBS News career, was touted as a world premiere at Toronto. Rather himself turned up at the event to praise the film's accuracy and its (very sympathetic) portrayal of him. But it turns out the movie was shown months earlier to a special viewer: CBS Corp. president and CEO Leslie Moonves. And the...

For the last four months Waco has been muffled by an impenetrable fog. Like Brigadoon. Only this Brigadoon isn’t nice like the one in Scotland. It refuses to just disappear for a century at a time and, as The Associated Press put it the other day, Waco is a Brigadoon “perpetually recovering from its last disaster.” The last disaster, depending on your point of view, was either the recent exposure of the morally bankrupt athletic program at self-righteous Baylor University or the Twin Peaks Massacre last May 17. Waco has dealt with the Twins Peaks Massacre by shrouding the incident...

Japanese beef imports to drop further than thought Japan, the world's largest importer of US beef, will see imports shrink further than previously expected, as exportable supplies of the meat tighten. The US Department of Agriculture bureau in Tokyo forecast Japanese beef imports falling to a five-year low of 727,000 tonnes this year, 13,000 tonnes below the department's official forecast. The forecast came despite an increased forecast for consumption, of 1.24m tonnes, narrowly higher year on year. However, the extra consumption will be met from stocks rather than imports, which will drop for a second successive year, as exportable supplies...

With the news being "All Trump, All the Time", it's hard not to be faced with supporters and detractors. What if we look at his background, his previous contributions, his contacts, his history overall. So, for your consideration ...

Chelsea Clinton may be, like her mother, a little hard to pin down as a personality, but three things seem inarguable after reading that email: She has a big heart, she writes an excellent policy paper and she is verbose. The voice you hear there addressing “Mom” and “Dad” — both wonky and sweet, impassioned and didactic, a little self-conscious — is pretty much the same one we hear in her new book for children, “It’s Your World.” It’s clear that she indeed wrote it herself, all 400 or so earnest, methodically compiled pages. The book is meant to help...

Hialeah police officer Nelson Enriquez may have been “neglectful” when he left two police K9s to swelter to death inside an SUV at his Davie home, but he didn’t intentionally kill them, an investigation by the Broward state attorney’s office found. And since there is nothing equivalent to a manslaughter charge in the state’s animal cruelty statute, Enriquez should not be held criminally liable for the death of Hektor, a 3-year-old Belgian Malnois, and Jimmy, a 6-year-old bloodhound. “In order to be held criminally liable for his acts, proof would be required that officer Enriquez intentionally left his dogs in...

Don't know what he is saying, but I find it amazing this conservative Christian school is more tolerant of a socialist than most secular schools are of Christians.

Samsung’s new Gear S2 smartwatch reminds me of an Apple product. No, not the Apple Watch — the original iPod. Its clever spinning bezel, which lets you quickly switch between apps and select things within them, offers some of the same discoverable agility as the iPod’s click-wheel dial. “Elegant” is not the word I’d use to describe my experiences with many smartwatches. But after an hour of trying out the S2 (at this week’s IFA trade show in Berlin), that description seems to fit. Fit and feel The Gear S2 — announced Monday and due in October at an unannounced...

Being it's the 13th, and therefore the Jewish New Year and the Shemitah, any word on overseas stocks, or what we might expect tomorrow morning over here? Not being a smart-aleck...I really want to know.

The Bernie Sanders story is about two things: 1) His authenticity in contrast to the phoniness of the Clintons. In other words, the guy is real and speaks from the heart. He does not need a consultant to tell him to be more genuine. 2) He is telling many Democrats what they want to hear. Forgive me for saying it, but this is not your dad's or grandpa's Democratic Party. Hard to think that JFK, Humphrey, or Scoop Jackson would be cheering at a Sanders rally.

2012, many conservatives held their nose and reluctantly voted for the grandfather of Obamacare in an attempt to take their country back from a lawless President. A tepid Team Romney refused to bring full force to bear against Obama, and the country has suffered tremendously for it. Earlier this year, the idea of Romney running again was briefly floated only to be resoundingly shot down by conservatives. Enter the rise of Trump – everything Romney is not: strong, authentic, unapologetic and artful at marketing. Now, we get word that Team Romney has joined the forces behind the Trump take-down attempt....

Carly Fiorina on Friday addressed Donald Trump's remarks about her face, defiantly declaring she is "proud of every year and every wrinkle." “Ladies, look at this face!” the Republican presidential hopeful said at the National Federation of Republican Women's annual conference, according to the Washington Post. Fiorina’s rejoinder came in response to a comment her White House rival made in a Rolling Stone interview published Wednesday. “Look at that face,” said Trump, the GOP front-runner. “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!” Despite Trump’s insistence Thursday that he was “talking about persona,”...

Buoyed by the success of his nuclear deal with Iran, President Barack Obama is preparing to move aggressively on other long-delayed priorities, including a major climate change summit this winter and his elusive quest to close the Guantanamo Bay prison camp. The National Security Council’s directorate of strategic planning has been quietly building an agenda of action items for the closing year of Obama’s presidency, in a White House that sees its work as far from complete, administration officials say. “We have no intention of resting on our laurels,” said one senior administration official. “We have an ambitious foreign policy...
