CHICAGO (CBS) — Unbelievable surveillance video captured flash mobs dashing into store after store and running out with armloads and sometimes entire racks of sporting goods. It has happened at three different Sports Authority stores in the Chicago area. This past Monday in Burbank at just before 1 p.m., five individuals entered a Sports Authority and soon after they were off. Video shows them running out the door with rack after rack of apparel and an employee giving chase.

True to form, the mainstream media doesn't mention the identity of the perpetrators, but that in itself is a clue as to who they were: if the attackers had been neo-Nazis, the Herald would have had no trouble saying that. Only when it comes to Muslims do "brawls" and "bombings" and "violence" just happen by themselves, with no clear perp. Also, the mention of the facts that the attack was "racially motivated" and in a "multicultural area" makes clear the identity of these "youths" (a common mainstream media term for violent young Muslims in any case). But why the coverup?...

Forty years ago, the battle of the sexes took a more literal turn in the world of sports, and captured the imagination of the country — and the world. By then a fading star in men’s tennis, Bobby Riggs challenged rising women’s tennis star Billie Jean King to a three-set match to settle whether women could compete against men on an even field. But how even was the field? ESPN and ABC report that Riggs may have thrown the match in cahoots with the Mafia: Breaking News |Celebrity News |More ABC News Videos The “Battle of the Sexes,” a 1973...

Jean King, Bobby Riggs an 'elaborate mob setup' Tennis star Bobby Riggs, top, and Billie Jean King are shown in action during the "Battle of the Sexes" match in the Astrodome in Houston, on Sept. 20, 1973. The ultimate “Battle of the Sexes” — a 1973 match between the No. 2 -ranked woman tennis player and a retired male Wimbledon champion — was rigged so Mafia bosses could cash in on the betting, a new report claims. The incredible claims have been lobbed at the reputation of the late hard-court hustler Bobby Riggs, by one of his former country club...

George Zimmerman has been acquitted of all charges. He is a free man. One of our own reporters hit the streets last night to see what people thought of the verdict. Violence ensued. Our reporter approached a group of young black men, and asked them what they thought of the verdict. Soon after asking just a few questions, they decided to physically attack him. After the incident our reporter and cameraman quickly left the scene. Thankfully, everyone is okay now. Please share this video with your family and friends, but WARNING: the video is extremely graphic.

SAO PAULO - One man has been arrested in northern Brazil after a referee who fatally stabbed an amateur player over his refusal to leave the field was decapitated by a mob, police said on Saturday. Referee Octavio da Silva, 20, stabbed player Josenir dos Santos, 30, on June 30 after dos Santos refused to heed his order to leave, police spokesman Kena Souza told Reuters. A mob then turned on da Silva, killing him before severing his head in the remote town of Pio XII, named after a former pope. A 27-year-old man was arrested on July 2 and...

Who's your daddy? For Bonanno mobsters it's Michael "the Nose" Mancuso who allegedly has been picked as their new boss even though he "has five years left to serve in federal prison for a murder conviction" as reported by John Marzulli for the Daily News. In the meantime Thomas Defiore allegedly was recently selected as underboss to represent Mancuso on the outside. The Bonanno family has been hit hard in recent years by federal prosecutions and a turncoat boss but is replenishing its ranks. Apparently, the Bonannos aren't the only Mafia family with a new boss. OAKLAND TWP. (WWJ) - Federal agents searching for the body of former Teamsters chief Jimmy Hoffa believe they are about to crack one of America’s biggest unsolved mysteries. CBS News has confirmed a suspicious concrete slab was retrieved by investigators from the Oakland Township field where they have been digging for any sign of Hoffa. It’s too soon, however, to know whether the slab is anything more than part of an old foundation for a barn. The dig — the latest in what’s been nearly a 40-year search — is reportedly the result of extensive FBI interviews with former mobster...

In the fall of 2011 the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) submitted Freedom of Information requests to the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service following an announcement that the administration was investigating homebuilders in an attempt to bolster union membership at the expense of housing sector jobs. “In a letter [from the Labor Department] cited by The [Wall Street] Journal,” wrote Crain’s Detroit at the time “homebuilders were asked to immediately turn over the names, addresses, Social Security numbers, pay rates and hours worked for all employees over the past two years. It was Victoria Day in Canada and the Toronto Blue Jays were hosting the Rays of Tampa Bay. The word “hosting,” however, hardly applied to the treatment that one Yunel Escobar, the Rays shortstop, received, who was lustfully booed each time he came to the plate. When he homered in the 9th inning, he was booed again for employing his signature gesture as he crossed home plate—stretching his arms out to indicate the “safe” sign. Cuban-born, Escobar does not speak English. Through a translator, he expressed his astonishment: “It’s something I do every time I cross home plate.” But...

Just got done watching Gangster Squad and it is a great movie. It takes some artistic license but clearly gives credit to Chief Parker for keeping the mob out of Los Angeles. I've lived in Los Angeles all my life as has my father - and he often has talked about how Chief Parker went Roman on the mafia in the 1950's in order to keep them out of Los Angeles. As a result, Los Angeles was considered off limits to the mob. The lack of corruption in Los Angeles from the 1950's on thru the 1980's was an important...

Black Friday always brings out the worst: long lines, short tempers and random outbreaks of shoppers’ rage. This year, Big Labor will ratchet up the Strikesgiving tension with professional grievance-mongers and workers picketing at 1,000 Wal-Mart stores nationwide. Attention, Wal-Mart directors: Mob appeasement never works. They’ve tried repeatedly to stave off union thuggery through political “partnerships” and capitulation. It has failed and failed and failed. As you may recall, the discount retail giant shocked many observers in 2009 when it announced it was embracing the principles of President Obama’s federal health care mandate. The nation’s largest private (and non-union) employer...

'Officers tried to separate the combatants and they were surrounded' Now for some breaking news: Black mob violence did not break out at a recent high school football game in Detroit. No one said it had. But at least one reporter thought the absence of mayhem was so unusual he wrote an entire column about it. Dan Galli covers sports for the ABC affiliate in Motown. The season opener between two high school powerhouses had to be stopped twice because of large scale racial violence at the game. One player jumped over a fence and hid in his car. Others...

The retired agent was identified as Robert Levinson, 59, of Coral Springs, Fla., a U.S. official familiar with the case told The Associated Press on Tuesday. More and more school districts are holding union contract negotiations in full view of the public. That positive development allows taxpayers - those people footing the bill for the giveaways authorized by the board - to learn where their money goes and why. By witnessing the process they can form their own opinions, free of the media filter and union spin. The unions have never liked this idea, and apparently have found a way to get around it: Arrange to have union members and supporters take all the seats reserved for the public. That will leave John and Jane Doe...
