Christine Schürrer, the German woman found guilty of murdering two children in Arboga, Sweden has been sentenced to life in prison. Schürrer had convicted by Västmanland District Court of murdering three-year-old Max and his one-year-old sister Saga, and then attempting to kill the children’s mother, 23-year-old Emma Jangestig, at the family’s home in Arboga on the evening of March 17th. Schürrer had been in a relationship with Jangestig’s then boyfriend, Torgny Hellgren, and according to prosecutors Frieda Gummesson and Johan Fahlander, her obsession with her ex-boyfriend served as the motive for the killings.

There was a time when the Republican Party was the ship that flew the banner of the Equal Rights Amendment. Mary Crisp went down with the Titanic, railing about women’s issues to the irate Reagan revolutionaries in the days leading up to the 1980 presidential convention. All revolutions have their heroines and heroes whose heresies lead them to be burned at the stake,” wrote Tanya Melich in “The Republican War Against Women.” “Mary Crisp was ours.” It was quite a finale for a woman who was basically a career volunteer, the prototypical ’50s suburban housewife who worked to put her...

The Tennessee Supreme Court this morning refused to hear an appeal from Mary Winkler in her case involving a custody battle over her three children. The full court issued the denial without comment. Winkler, who was convicted of voluntary manslaughter for killing her preacher husband last year, is seeking to regain custody of her three young daughters who now live with her husband’s parents. Dan and Diane Winkler of Huntingdon, Tenn., are seeking to terminate Winkler’s parental rights and to gain permanent custody of the girls. Mary Winkler asked the state’s high court to intervene by ordering a Juvenile Court...

McMINNVILLE, Tenn. — The wife of a West Tennessee minister convicted in his death still professes her love for him, a friend says. Mary Winkler, 33, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the 2006 shooting of her husband, Matthew, at the Selmer parsonage where the couple lived with their three young daughters. He was shot in the back as he slept. She was given a three-year sentence on June 8, but was required to serve only 67 days in custody because of credit for time in jail before her trial, the nature of the offense and no previous criminal record....

Despite the distribution of a video of the Arab suicide bomber who intended to blow up a hospital by the IDF, nearly all foreign news agencies chose to boycott the story altogether. An outraged former undersecretary to US President Ronald Reagan and candidate for Republican Presidential nominee, Gary Bauer wrote a scathing critique of the world media’s decision to avoid the story. Excerpts from Bauer’s letter: ”If you don't get the Fox News Channel then you didn't see any of the dramatic footage of the Israeli army's arrest yesterday of a 21-year old, female Palestinian homicide-bomber, strapped with 25 pounds...
