(WBTV) - Two people are dead and 12 people are hurt at a block party that led to a shooting and several people being struck by vehicles in north Charlotte early Monday morning. Police are calling the incident a “mass casualty” and say over 100 rounds were fired into a crowd of around 400 people. Just before 12:30 p.m., officials identified the two people killed as 29-year-old Kelly Miller and 28-year-old Christopher Antonio Gleaton. Police say some of the other people who were injured...

President Donald Trump hit out at Washington D.C. police late on Friday night, claiming they were ‘doing nothing’ as protesters tore down and burned a statue of a Confederate general. The monument of General Albert Pike was hit by demonstrators as a protest in Raleigh, North Carolina, also targeted statues of soldiers at a Confederate monument. The statues were pulled to the ground with ropes around their necks and dragged through the streets before one was hung from a street sign.

The city of Raleigh will require people to wear face masks starting at 4 p.m. Friday (6/19/20) in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus. RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A string of racist social media posts courtesy of two incoming freshmen was brought to the attention of school officials at N.C. State University. Those two students will not be allowed to attend the university in the fall. Outrage on social media from university alumni and current students alike at the initial reluctance of the university to do anything about it helped bring the since-deleted social media posts to light. Screenshots of the posts were leaked by many on social media which came on the heels of nationwide protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death....

It isn’t even clear if Dallas is on the RNC’s shortlist of convention sites now that North Carolina has lost it but Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins wants to make his opinion known – he’s a firm no on the city hosting it. Jenkins cites his concern for the potential of a large gathering spreading the coronavirus. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, also a Democrat, has not extended an invitation to the RNC to host the convention in that city, though the city bid on hosting the 2016 convention.
