Springdale High School junior who speaks out on behalf of veterans is to receive an award today at a presidential inaugural ball. Nikki Mendicino, 16, will receive the Falcon of the Year award from Free Republic, which operates a Web site for "grass roots conservatism." The award goes to a high school student. Mendicino became interested in helping veterans about six years ago after World War II veteran John Kridlo visited her school. She began visiting him and started a Web page dedicated to veterans. Believe it or not, I just got back from New York City and thanks to one contest that I entered and some really great people who helped me get there, I got to attend one day of Republican National Convention!!! Everyone said that they knew some day I would get there and I finally did!! When Rolling Thunder "rolled" up to the White House, I was rolling up Pennsylvania Ave. and in the Oval Office too!! (I guess the press just happened to miss me!!!). ;-)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be on KDKA Radio, this Wednesday, with Mike Pintek, at 11:05 a.m.!! I am doing a 15 minute interview about all of the Rolling Thunder events that I will be attending this weekend in Washington D.C. I will be co-hosting the Rally and this will be my fifth year speaking at Rolling Thunder (since I was 10 years old!!). Rolling Thunder will be covered live on C-Span on May 30th and the Rally begins at 1:30 p.m. Hope you get to listen Wednesday morning and I hope you get to watch...

This is Nikki!!! Some of you know that I am only 15 (just turned 15), but for 5 years now I have been doing everything that I can to support our Troops, our Veterans and our POW/MIA's and right now I am really worried about our troops. I am seriously thinking about organizing a Pennsylvania STATE WIDE "Support Our Troops Rally" because I really think that our troops need us now more than ever!! I want this to take place in several (or as many) cities as possible with the one here in the "Burgh" being at Point State Park!!...
