WASHINGTON — In a surprise move, Representative Steve Stockman of Texas, a conservative, filed just before the Monday evening deadline to challenge Senator John Cornyn, two-term incumbent, in next year’s Texas Republican primary. Mr. Stockman’s move against Mr. Cornyn, the second-ranking Senate Republican, offers the potential for yet another ideological showdown in the 2014 Republican Senate primaries.

WASHINGTON - Mitch McConnell isn't the only Republican Senate leader who must contend with a noteworthy primary challenge. Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, the Republican whip, will face a conservative challenger in Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas), who submitted paperwork late Monday for the March primary. Stockman, who returned to Congress this year after serving a single term in the 1990s, had been planning to run for reelection. An aide filed the application just 15 minutes before the close of the state filing period, the Houston Chronicle reported. It's unclear how serious a challenge Stockman can mount in a short campaign...

Initially I was a Cruz supporter, but as the campaign rolled on and I found out that Cruz is a trial lawyer, I was skeptical, but I still supported Cruz, because he said the right things. Still, though, saying the right things cannot hide your initial background, a trial lawyer=community activist. As in all elections, the choice is the lesser of two evils, and a businessman is a lesser evil than a trial lawyer.
