November 22, 2007 Snarls, smears and innuendo as attack dogs get ready for the fray Hillary Clinton and her aide, Huma Abedin Tim Reid in Columbia, South Carolina The anonymous e-mails and letters began dropping into inboxes and through front doors this summer. One claimed that Hillary Clinton was having a lesbian affair with Huma Abedin, her beautiful aide. Another online mass-mailing cautioned of the “dark secrets” of Mitt Romney’s Mormonism. A blogger claiming to support John McCain said that Rudy Giuliani's wife supported the killing of “innocent puppies”. Flyers appeared on cars accusing Barack Obama of being a Muslim...

A new report submitted to the Dutch government has sparked controversy by arguing that Islam does not conflict with either human rights or Dutch values. Islam has been a hot topic in the Netherlands since the killing of a controversial film-maker, Theo van Gogh, by a young Muslim in 2004.In a country traditionally seen as one of the most liberal and tolerant in Europe, Islam and Muslims are now viewed with suspicion. The report is the fruit of three years' work by the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR), a think-tank in The Hague which advises the government. It examines...

The nation's most prominent pro-choice spokeswoman blasted Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for giving $10,000 to right-to-life Pennsylvania Democrat Bob Casey and accused the former first lady of "putting politics over principle." "When push comes to shove, at certain times, [Clinton] will support the party even if that choice does not reflect all their standards and principles," Kate Michelman, former longtime head of NARAL Pro-Choice America, told The Post. Clinton, a darling of the pro-choice community, is taking heat from the activist for giving the maximum donation allowable under law to pro-life Senate hopeful Casey through her political committee, HillPAC.

What About the State of Our Health Care? Dear Friend, George Bush may have had an election year conversion about the importance of health care, but as I listened to his State of the Union Speech tonight, it's clear he still wants to take us in the wrong direction. I can tell you from the people I have spoken to, and the thousands of stories you have sent me concerning your health care struggles, that few Americans, if any, would find relief from the Bush assortment of flimsy band-aids and "private account" gimmicks. George Bush and his Republican allies want...

Stop the $22 billion special interest giveaway! Dear Friend, Republicans are nothing if not consistent in putting their special-interest friends first. Today, the Washington Post revealed a back-room deal by Republicans to preserve a loophole in Medicare payment policies that allows insurance companies to receive excess payments from Medicare – to the tune of $22 billion. You read that correctly. The Senate tried to act to save Medicare $26 billion in payments to insurance companies. But, in the Republican-controlled conference committee – where both Democrats and the public were shut out – lobbyists for the insurance companies successfully eliminated all...

Speak Up for Health Care Dear Friend, They are at it again. What the Bush Administration tried and failed to do with Social Security, they now intend to do with health care. They want to shift the health care system into private health care savings accounts. We're not going to let them. Once again, we must stop their ill-advised, unfair plan in its tracks. What would private health care savings accounts (HSA's) mean for Americans? It would mean that the well to do, those who are already the best able to pay for health care, would perhaps be fine. But...

BRITISH police are considering the possibility that the four key suspects in last week's London attacks may have been tricked into setting off their bombs, a newspaper has reported. "We do not have hard evidence that the men were suicide bombers," a Scotland Yard spokesman told The Sunday Telegraph. "It is possible that they did not intend to die." According to the paper, one police hypothesis is that the bombers were tricked by a "master" who told them they would have time to escape - when in fact the devices were set to go off immediately. "The bombers' masters might...

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The leader of a militant group involved in beheading hostages and other attacks has been arrested and the group was broken up, Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said Monday. Allawi identified the group as Jaish Muhammad, Arabic for Muhammad's Army. The group "has been arrested ... We arrested their leader," Allawi said, identifying him as Moayad Ahmed Yasseen, also known as Abu Ahmed. Muhammad's Army was known to have cooperated with Jordanian terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and al-Qaida and Saddam loyalists and was responsible for killing and beheading a number of Iraqis, Arabs and foreigners in...

The ever-colorful Teresa Heinz Kerry, whose ``shove it'' comment to a journalist made headlines earlier this year, says some of the words she chooses may be inappropriate because English is her second language. ``My intent and my expression is real, but the actual use of the words may be out of place,'' she said on the daytime talk show ``The View.'' Heinz Kerry is a native of Mozambique, where Portuguese is the official language. But the potential first lady said she does not regret anything she's said this campaign season. ``I have not said very much at all except people...

Wise Irishman "I am having fun listening to Teresa Heinz Kerry. The Democrats muzzled Hillary Rodham Clinton in '92 after the 'baking cookies' remark, but I don't think John Kerry will be able to do so with his meal ticket. When I was growing up, I had friends who wanted to marry girls with some wealth, but my dad, a wise old Irishman, told me: 'No one works harder for his money than the man who marries it.' " — Irish-American Republicans founder and co-chairman Frank Duggan.

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Relatives of two Jordanian drivers abducted in Iraq threatened Tuesday to behead the director of the company the hostages work for and to kill all the firm's employees if the director fails to immediately comply with the kidnappers' demands to cease operations in Iraq. Fayez Saad al-Udwan and Ahmed Salama Hassan — who work as drivers for the private Jordanian company Daoud and Partners (search) — were kidnapped Monday by a group calling itself the Mujahedeen Corps (search) in Iraq. The group warned the captives would be killed within 72 hours unless their employer withdrew from Iraq...

A former Hillary Clinton fundraiser who has just been extradited from Brazil is promising blockbuster revelations against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton -- revelations that could throw a monkeywrench into Hillary's presidential ambitions. Peter Franklin Paul, who has accused Hillary Clinton of failing to declare $2 million in campaign contributions to the Federal Election Commission, is just back in the U.S. after being extradited from Brazil and is promising to reveal fresh details of how he financed Clinton. Paul made some blistering criticisms of the Clintons to Brazil's Epoca magazine just before he was extradited. Paul was returned to the U.S....

These are excerpts from a chapter from Dick Morris' new book, "Off With Their Heads - Traitors, Crooks & Obstructionists In American Politics, Media, Business." This chapter is titled, "How Clinton Left Ticking Terror Time Bombs For Bush To Discover." As King Louis XV lay dying, he ruminated about the state of the pre-revolutionary French kingdom his son would soon inherit. Every-where he looked, he saw peril -- the anger of the peasants, the arrogance of the nobility, the unfairness of the tax system. Sadly, he reflected that the young man who would become Louis XVI faced tough times. Old...

Political guru Dick Morris is variously blamed and credited for having guided President Bill Clinton's victories over George H.W. Bush in 1992 and Bob Dole in 1996. Time magazine once called him "The most influential private citizen in America," and there is no doubt that Morris remains influential. In his new book, Off With Their Heads: Traitors, Crooks & Obstructionists in American Politics, Media & Business, he levels well-aimed shots at his former boss Bill Clinton, among many others, and hits his target. Morris has no sympathy for those he says have done their best to draw America's focus away...

At the JospephBeth in Shaker Heights (just south of Cleveland) bookstore Hillay was signing her Books. Is it just me or is this like the phony "listening tour" before her Senate run. We had 5 Freepers there myself, DollyCali, Commiewatcher; Common Tator; and TypeLouder (he guys am I missing someone?). In addition there were two very nice ladies who joined us to hold signs. In addition, a Right to Life group, had a large contingent with very attention getting signs...very attention getting. LAKE FOREST PARK -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton swept through a bookstore here yesterday afternoon, signed close to 2,000 copies of her best-selling memoir, "Living History," in two hours and left behind a dazed crowd of admirers and a dozen Hillary haters. Third Place Books had issued 1,200 passes to customers beforehand. Audrey Nilles, who began planning for the event in May when she learned of Clinton's visit, took the day off work -- along with many others -- and arrived at 8 a.m. with a bundle of books under her arm. The line started moving after 11 a.m., and...

"Living History" has far outpaced U.S. Sen. John McCain's memoir "Faith of My Fathers" (1999) and is closing in quickly on "My American Journey" by Gen. Colin Powell, which has 1.6 million hardback copies in print after eight years. Like the secretary of state's book, Clinton's has fueled speculation of a presidential run, either in 2004 or 2008. Former President Bill Clinton's wife insists that's "not in the cards," but she does see something positively political in the crowds of up to 2,000 people who have given her rock-star receptions at book-signings across the country. "I think it's a reflection...

The blaring music that’s now a standard feature at book signings by Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) is not part of a new summer marketing campaign. It’s an “audio protest” by Free Republic, a conservative group, whose members have been showing up with their boom boxes wherever Clinton appears. “We’re not hassling her,” said Kris Tinn, co-leader of the group’s Washington chapter. “It’s just our way of correcting her version of history.” Free Republic has put together what it calls the “2003 Hilla-Palooza” tape for local chapters to play outside bookstores, shopping malls or anywhere else Clinton is signing copies of...

OK, back from the frontlines...we had a blast Freeping the idiots waiting in line to meet the bride of Satan in her pink pantsuit. Me and MO4BUSH were right outside the door of the store. I had the great Doctored photo of Hillary's LYING HISTORY with me and made alot of copies. We got a lot of stupid comebacks but just as many thumbs up. I was able to tell the people as they were going in that they were not allowed to make eye contact and they had to kiss her ring. I swear, some people thought I was...

RIDGEWOOD With its velvet ropes, tight schedule, and high-strung aides, Hillary Rodham Clinton's book signing at Bookends on Friday was shaping up to be an event devoid of actual human emotion. But that was before the author strode into the room. Cameras flashed. Spines straightened, and hands clapped. The first few dozen of the hundreds of people in line at the bookstore leaned forward to look, and there was Clinton - Democratic New York senator, author, former first lady, famously humiliated spouse, and perhaps future presidential candidate - beaming her megawatt smile around the room. "Thank you for coming!" she...

We doubt that this will come as a surprise to Republicans, but Hillary Rodham Clinton wants to become Queen.Well, that is sort of what she told KISS-108 morning man Matt Siegel the other day when she was flogging her best seller 'Living History' and promoting her book signing in Cambridge tomorrow.'I think that we have to recognize in our country that many other nations have divided the responsibilities of head of state and head of government between two people,' she said.'You know, some people have a king or a queen, and a prime minister, or a presdient and a prime...

I picked up Hillary Clinton's biographical "Living History" a couple of weeks ago, hoping to get the inside scoop on White House life and anxious to hear how she dealt with the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Also, I've always found Hillary to be an inspirational female figure, so I was hoping for a little, well, inspiration. Sadly, the book proved to be little more than a detailed travelogue. Clinton spends more pages telling about her diplomatic travels - largely uninteresting stuff - than she does explaining her marriage, her family and her life. And if you're looking for insight into the...

Protesters have become a regular feature at book signings by Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), but so far, according to Clinton's publisher, Simon & Schuster, they haven't hurt sales. Now Clinton may have another problem that could: conservative blonde nemesis Ann Coulter and her new bestseller, Treason. Living History, Clinton's book, continues to do a brisk business, yet by the beginning of the week Coulter's anti-liberal tome had buried it on Amazon's nonfiction bestseller list. Treason started the week in the No. 1 spot, while Living History had fallen out of the top 10. Unfazed, Clinton has kept a heavy schedule...

Dick Morris Lands on Best-Seller List; Coulter Crushes Hillary Dick Morris tells us that his book "Off with Their Heads: Traitors, Crooks & Obstructionists in American Politics, Media & Business," has opened at No. 11 on the New York Times' best-seller list. Considering that the book lambastes the Times for its bias and corruption, the Old Gray Lady must be turning purple with rage. By the way, several readers wanted us to alert people about some interesting changes in Amazon's best-seller list. As of this writing: Ann Coulter's "Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism"...

His inattention to terrorism seemed to turn deliberateIn an exclusive excerpt from his new book, Off With Their Heads, Dick Morris describes his former boss’s neglect of a new and growing threat. Clinton’s welfare reform legislation has proven more successful than even its most ardent supporters had dreamed. Reducing welfare rolls by more than half, it has simultaneously led to an almost one-third reduction in poverty. He not only balanced the budget but generated huge surpluses. Even after he left office, the United States was well on its way to paying off the national debt when the double whammy of...

Once again the old political consultant Dick Morris is attempting to rain on Bill and Hillary Clinton's parade. The revelations about Morris's dalliance with a prostitute helped dampen the mood of the 1996 Democratic convention and, since Clinton left office and Hillary joined the Senate, Morris has been hurling raspberries at them under the guise of commentary at Fox News. Now he has rushed into print a cantankerous volume to coincide with the publication of Hillary Clinton's memoir so they could share the news during the same month of hawking their wares. Morris's book is made for the burgeoning market...

How Clinton Left Ticking Terror Time Bombs For Bush To Discover From Dick Morris' new book: Off With Their Heads - Traitors, Crooks & Obstructionists In American Politics, Media, Business The webpage link apparently is an entire chapter out of Morris' new book. If printed out, it would be over 40 pages of text. This excerpt from the book gives an inside-the-Clinton-White-House view of what was and was not done about the threat of terrorism in the 1990's Clinton Administration. "Part of the problem in battling terror during the Clinton administration was the attorney general, Janet Reno. When President Clinton...

Off with Their Heads Traitors, Crooks & Obstructionists in American Politics, Media & Business by Dick Morris Chapter One The New New York Times: All The News That Fits, They Print There is a new New York Times. Howell Raines's New York Times. No longer content to report the news, he admits to "flooding the zone" -- and floods it with stories that carry forward his personal crusades and the paper's editorial views. And the Times doesn't stop at slanting the news; it also weights its polls. The surveys the newspaper takes regularly are biased to give more strength to...

Dear Hillary, In your new book, Living History, you correctly note that when you asked me to help you and Bill avert defeat in the congressional election of 1994 I was reluctant to do so. But then you assert, incorrectly, that my reluctance stemmed from difficulties in working with your staff. You even misquote me as telling you: "I don't like the way I was treated, Hillary. People were so mean to me." As you know, I never said anything of the sort. I had, in fact, no experience in dealing with either your staff or the President's at that...
