  • Report: Nevada would benefit from transfer of federal lands

    LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL CAPITAL BUREAU ^ | April 22,2014 | SEAN WHALEY
A new report analyzing the financial ramifications of a takeover of some of Nevada’s millions of acres of federal lands suggests the state would benefit from such a transfer. A transfer of 4 million acres of U.S. Bureau Land Management land could bring in anywhere from $31 million to $114 million a year, based on a review of four Western states that have significant amounts of trust lands under their control, the report says.
  • The Economy is Cratering

A couple of months ago, I analyzed the data from the Phillie Fed survey, which showed the fastest 3 month deterioration in the index since it began in 1968.  After a small bounce last month, the wheels have completely come off.  Expectations were for a reading of +2, signifying slight growth (more like a mild swelling), but it came in at -30.7!  That signifies a deep recession as those are the levels it was at in the November 2008-March 2009 period.  The future expectations index, which is generally more positive (as people are generally positive) came in at a paltry...

But because of his great LOVE for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions— Eph 2:4 The word of the day is Collectivist Bargaining is now a human right just like every other commie wish. Does that mean the 90% of private jobs which are not union are living under Apartheid? To believe you can’t advance or you will be working in the sweat shops if you don’t have a corrupt union boss has to be the greatest scam of all times, not to mention the absolute minimization...

In recent weeks while addressing Tea Party rallies here on the left coast, I ask the assembled patriots what appears to be an odd question: "Would all those from the former Soviet Union please raise your hands?" A notable number of hands are always raised -- the San Francisco Bay Area is home to a diverse population. I then ask another curious question: "What does April 22 signify to you?" Without exception, someone will shout with great displeasure, "Lenin's birth date!" The crowd clearly sees that I'm on to something. I next ask the former Soviets, "And as a young...

Security: A Senate bill lets the president "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "nongovernmental" computer networks and do what's needed to respond to the threat. Didn't they just collect our e-mail addresses? We wish this was just a piece of the fictional "Dr. Strangelove" that fell to the cutting-room floor, but it's not. It is a real piece of disturbingly vague legislation sponsored by Sens. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., Bill Nelson, D-Fla., and Olympia Snowe, R-Maine. Senate Bill 773 would grant the administration emergency powers (where have we heard that before?) in the event of a cyberemergency that the president would have...
  • The face of Abbas Kargar Javid — man accused of killing Neda Soltan

The man accused of killing Neda Soltan has been identified as Abbas Kargar Javid, a pro-government militiaman, after photographs of the Basiji’s ID cards appeared on the internet. The identification challenges the Iranian regime’s claim that foreign agents shot the young woman, who became a global symbol of resistance to the Government of President Ahmadinejad. One picture appears on Mr Javid’s Basij identification card, which was taken off him by the crowd that stopped him briefly when he fled the murder scene during a massive demonstration against electoral fraud on June 20. Photographs of that card and another that was...
  • Tyranny Watch: Obama Begins Process to Remove US Citizens’ Rights

While Barack Obama continues to protect and expand the rights of detained terrorist Islamist enemies of the USA, he has quickly begun the legalistic process of eliminating the rights of law-abiding US citizens. Note: This is but another phase of Obama turning the once US Republic into his own totalitarian state. Obama officially began his policy with a report—written and implemented by the Department of Homeland Security—that labels and classifies all US citizens who oppose him, voted or plan to vote for 3rd party candidates, display bumper stickers recommending said 3rd party candidates or are pro-life (therefore anti-abortion) as “right-wing...

Never mind the mythical angels of religion and poetry. Meet a living angel in flesh, Nazanin Afshin-Jam. Many of you may not know that we have a hero in our midst. Many of you may not know that this individual, singlehandedly, has done more for her compatriots, as well as for other people of our planet, than most of us together. This dazzling beauty, both inside and outside, has dedicated her life to the good of humanity. We are honoring Nazanin Afshin-Jam for her tireless efforts to shed light into the shadowy corners of conflict, to expose and end the...

Something unusual happened a few days ago to Vladmir Putin's party of power, known as "United Russia," which dominates Russia's national parliament and faces no credible opposition there. It lost an election, lost it in a landslide. The poll in question took place in the world's most northerly major city, Murmansk. The race was for mayor, and United Russia's candidate was blown off the electoral map by an upstart independent candidate named Sergei Subbotin. The margin of victory in the runoff election was nearly two to one. The casual onlooker might not have thought Putin's Kremlin would get too worked...

So let me do the preachers of Armageddon one better. Today's stock market isn't just the “worst since the Great Depression,” like they're so fond of saying. No, it's even worse than the Great Depression. Take a look at the chart, below. It shows the daily progress of the S&P 500 in terms of percentage change from the very top. The brown line is the change from the recent all-time highs on October 9, 2007. The blue line is the change from the all-time highs just before the Great Depression, September 6, 1929. As of yesterday's close (Thursday, March 5),...

.....Find an idiot on the street (I’d be spoilt for choice), pay him a bit of money, enter into a “friendship marriage,” get the travel permission signed, dump the idiot on the street and leave. Hey presto! What a wonderfully practical solution. What’s absolutely shocking about the whole concept is that this is what women have been reduced to in our society. It’s unthinkable for a woman to try to function as an independent entity irrespective of her capabilities, inclinations, or preferences. In fact, judging by the responses that I received it is wholly deplorable for a woman to even...

The tracts are used by Ray Comfort and his co-host Kirk Cameron and have been promoted on their national television program. Reports were that the Secret Service was going to pay a visit to Comfort’s national offices in Bellflower, California and confiscate their entire stock. Apparently someone in North Carolina took one...

The head of Lugansk regional council, Victor Tikhonov, has been detained in General Office of Public Prosecutor. The details of the arrest are unknown. Tikhonov is one of the active participants of "separative congress" in Severodonetsk, "Obcom" reported. We remind, the head of Donetsk regional council, Boris Kolesnikov, was invited to General Office of Public Prosecutor on April 6 for giving testimonies concerning the case of separatism and encroachment on territorial integrity of Ukraine. Kolesnikov was detained there and is still under arrest. The leader of Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united), Victor Medvedchuk, commented on the detaining of Tikhonov...

MOHAMMED, JESUS AND NICK by a Thoughtful Conservative Friend You mention that the topic on Free Republic for the past few days has been the Nick Berg Abu Ghraib “retaliation” murder. As Islam preaches “an eye for an eye,” you’d think the six Muslim captors would have stripped Nick Berg, tied him to a bunk, and covered his head with a pair of women's panties! Instead, this video is the most brutal thing I’ve ever seen. They mercilessly roll Nick onto his stomach while a practitioner of the "Religion of Peace" jumps on his back with his knee, and another...

Women are Oressed? taking the P out of "Oppressed" The biggest charge that feminism lays is that women have been and are victims of nasty patriarchal male oppression, in fact despite the widespread variations of feminism (a handy defensive tool in which any feminist can claim "Oh but I'm not that kind of feminist..) the one basic tenet of oppression is evident in every form of feminism. What follows is a fine blend of some of the better writing and profound points raised by people within the men's movement, some bits are direct, word for word, some have been edited...

Tax Reform Tuesday Oppressed by Government Bureaucrats & Local Police April 15th, 2003 the dead line that forces Americans to pay tribute to Caesar and face the undeniable fact, of how against the wishes of our founding fathers the government intrudes into our private lives. My friend John Hallman, South Florida Chapter Leader of Citizens for a Sound Economy and I, had decided on a course of action. We would stand in front of Boca Raton Post Offices with flyers from the C.S.E. declaring “Tax Reform Tuesday”. The flyers for those who chose to inquire about them, would direct people...
