A U.S.-based traveller is facing a mischief charge after trying to board a flight with a "mock improvised explosive device" at Toronto's Pearson airport this morning, in an incident that caused an hours-long delay for passengers. United Airlines Flight 547 was set to depart at 7 a.m. ET for O'Hare International Airport, but during security clearance, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found a device in a passenger's suitcase that caused them concern. According to a statement, CBP notified Canadian Air Transport Security Authority officials who "swabbed the mock IED for explosives with a negative result."

A plane reportedly caught fire at Chicago's O'Hare airport while rolling out for departure on Friday afternoon, the Chicago Fire Department's office tweeted. Passengers traveling at O'Hare began sharing photos of smoke on the runway.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Tuesday that all people flying from three Ebola affected nations must fly through one of five American airports. One of the airports being Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. DHS says this move is to help prevent the spread of the deadly virus in the United States. Passengers flying from Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea will undergo additional health screenings and protective measures that were put into place at the five airports last week. The five airports are JFK, Newark, Dulles, Atlanta and O'Hare. This new mandate will go into effect Wednesday.

Passengers on a United Airlines flight at O’Hare International Airport were evacuated due to "fumes or smoke" in the aircraft early Sunday morning. Flight 525 from Boston to Chicago landed on time at 7:17 a.m. with fumes or smoke in the aircraft, according to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
