Further Poisoning The Well Media Bias In the Wake of the Tel Aviv Bombing Late Monday night, in the wake of the suicide bombing in Tel Aviv, I tuned to first CNN then CNN International. While both CNN networks had covered the terror attack earlier in the day their news crawl at the bottom of the screen no longer mentioned it. Instead the Israeli missile attack on Gaza City was mentioned. The fact that nobody was killed or injured in Gaza was conveniently ignored. While doing some painting today, I wanted to listen to some talk radio. Unfortunately, Sunday is not a good day for talk radio. The only thing I found on was . . . . . KPFK -- public radio. I listened to "Counterspin" and "Spotlight Africa." I was in the vomitorium. I hadn't listened for awhile. These people are nuts. I wanted to throw my radio. U.S. Marshal Service served a warrant on a tiny Santa Cruz pirate radio station early Wednesday, rousting and frisking the pajama-clad residents of the co-op house from which the station has been broadcasting. Bill Fletcher of Trans Africa just declared (on Pacifica Radio) that any discussion of abstinence when referring to the AIDS crisis denotes support of genocide. Mr. Fletcher also cited the refusal of current nuclear powers to disarm (Israel?) as the reason why other nations will continue in their quest for nuclear weapons. In a speech this past July, Mr. Fletcher compared Israel to apartheid South Africa.

T'S democracy at its finest. Or worst. Liberal New Yorkers are bracing for a stormy election campaign, one that pits political correctness against political correctness, and antiwar voices against antiwar voices. No, this isn't a race between Al Sharpton and Howard Dean, or one between rivals for the leadership of some Upper West Side co-op. It's the election campaign for the board of WBAI-FM (99.5), the radio voice of the New York left for more than 40 years, and the fact that the stakes of this vote are relatively minor has in no way softened the fierceness of the debate....
