French President Emmanuel Macron’s party lost its parliamentary majority Sunday, as factions to his left and right both made significant gains. France held the second round of voting for its legislative elections Sunday, nearly two months after voters reelected Macron in April. Macron, who defeated National Rally candidate Marine Le Pen in a rematch of the 2017 election, won a comfortable 17-point victory – but fell short of the 32-point landslide he enjoyed five years earlier. In her concession speech, Le Pen claimed that her improved showing in the 2022 election marked a victory for the French nationalist movement, and...

VIDEOIt has to be the world's worst wig. It is worn by 72 year old British MP Michael Fabricant. The wig is so horrible that it just sucks in all your attention to the extent that you can't even hear anything Fabricant is saying. Try it. In these video clips all your attention is sucked in by his wig and whatever Fabricant is saying is completely ignored. The DayGlo wig just outshines all reality surrounding it. In fact, that attention stealing wig is so powerful that it even draws all your attention when Fabricant rides a bicycle naked.p.s. Did Fabricant...

Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky quoted William Shakespeare and Winston Churchill in an emotional address to both houses of the United Kingdom Parliament which ultimately appealed to British “greatness” to make sure “Ukrainian skies are safe” and to categorise Russia as a “terrorist state”. The Houses of Commons and Lords received an extraordinary address by the Ukrainian President on Tuesday afternoon, a short speech that expressed the Ukrainian experience of the renewed Russian invasion day-by-day for the past fortnight, and which also appealed to the United Kingdom to take further action.

OTTAWA — The House of Commons on Monday night approved the extraordinary and temporary measures in the Emergencies Act, heeding Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s warning that the “state of emergency is not over,” even though police ended a three-week occupation in Ottawa and reopened border points to the U.S. The motion to confirm the declaration of emergency passed 185-151, with the New Democrats voting in favour alongside the minority Liberal government. The Conservatives and the Bloc Québécois opposed it. The vote to approve the measures will keep them in place until mid-March at the latest and the Senate must also...

Leftist Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau endured a second day of intense heckling, insults, and accusations of prioritizing his political power over the health of citizens on Wednesday in a heated session of Parliament. Trudeau is currently under fire from both the left and right for his handling of the ongoing “Freedom Convoy” protests, which have made their biggest impact in the national capital, Ottawa, but have surfaced in multiple major cities and American border crossings. The Conservative Party of Canada has named Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Bergen as its interim leader. The announcement came Wednesday evening after a vote by caucus members. The Conservative Party ousted Erin O'Toole as its leader earlier in the day following a secret ballot vote in a caucus meeting. Bergen is among a growing number of Conservatives allying themselves with the protesters – a position that politicians across the political spectrum have criticized. The protesters want governments to end all pandemic restrictions and vaccination and mask mandates. On Thursday, organizers again said they won’t leave until their demands are met, which...

As with other European Union countries, the Dutch government has been reveling in the power COVID bestowed on it. In response, the Netherlands has seen huge and violent protests against those draconian strictures. I’m betting that some of those protesters were among the people who voted for Gideon van Meijeren, a young man newly elected to the Dutch Parliament. This young man, during his first appearance on the floor, managed in just two minutes to completely humiliate Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Watching the video will make your day.

MI5 has issued a rare warning that an alleged Chinese agent has infiltrated Parliament to interfere in UK politics. An alert from the security service said Christine Ching Kui Lee "established links" for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) with current and aspiring MPs. She then gave donations to politicians, with funding coming from foreign nationals in China and Hong Kong. It comes after a "significant, long-running" investigation by MI5, Whitehall sources told the BBC. One of the MPs funded by Ms Lee was Labour's Barry Gardiner, who received over £420,000 from her in five years - but he said he...

Romanian protesters tried to force their way into parliament on Tuesday, blocking traffic and vandalising some cars in the capital Bucharest in an attempt to prevent lawmakers from making a COVID-19 health pass mandatory for workers. While the ruling coalition of centrists and leftists is currently negotiating the terms of a health pass mandate, no such bill is on parliament's legislative agenda at the moment. An estimated 2,000-2,500 people from across the country gathered outside parliament in the morning waving Romanian flags and chanting "Freedom..." In October, Romanian senators narrowly rejected a bill requiring medical staff, public sector workers and...

Numerous members of the British Parliament slammed President Joe Biden this week in response to the catastrophe the president created in Afghanistan with his disastrous pullout and handling of the situation. The remarks came on Wednesday from members in the House of Lords, which is one of the two chambers in the British Parliament.
