A SPANIARD recently released from the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay has said he was confined to a small cell where the lights were always on and was forced to listen to patriotic American music. Hamed Abderrahman Ahmad, who spent two years in the prison, denies being linked to al-Qaeda. In an interview released in Spain today he said there was little contact with other prisoners in Guantanamo, that exercise was permitted for about 15 minutes a day, and they were allowed two showers a week.
