While much attention is understandably focused on the repercussions of the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision, the movement to bring the Boy Scouts of America into alignment with current LGBT orthodoxy is well underway. National Boy Scouts of America president Robert Gates announced in May that he wanted to end the organization’s blanket ban on “open and avowed†homosexual adults serving as BSA leaders. Less than 30 days later, the Cradle of Liberty Council issued a press release announcing that Council’s new policy is as follows: “Discrimination in any form, including but not limited to discrimination on the basis of...

One of the most powerful – if not THE most powerful – political themes in American politics is “send them a message.” Yet, in an election year when the “them” in Washington are the target of voter wrath from both Left and Right, only three of the 20+ candidates running for President are “message carriers.” The three message carriers; Democrat Bernie Sanders and Republicans Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have different messages, but they have one thing in common – voting for them is a clear rejection of the status quo in their parties, and in the conduct of the...

Donald Trump, the brash bilionaire who has staked his presidntial claim on fighting illegal immigration and reclaiming jobs from China and Mexico, has vaulted to the top of the Republican primary field. But as he huddles in his New York City office with fellow immigration firebrand Ted Cruz, not everyone in the GOP is willing to entertain the idea of a Trump nomination. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham told NBC on the 'Today' show Wednesday morning that Trump is a 'wrecking ball' who could destroy the Republican Party's chances of winning the White House next year. 'He's riding a wave...

Contrary to what many gun advocates argue, the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) data reveals that having a gun provides no statistically significant benefit to a would-be victim during a criminal confrontation.

The metal produced from melting the weapons and other scrap iron Monday will be turned into rebar that will be used to construct roads, bridges and buildings in California, Arizona and Nevada. “It is important to know that the weapons will never be used again to harm,” L.A. County Sheriff Jim McDonnell said at a media event at the Arrow Route mill.

When asked about presidential candidate Donald Trump's remarks on illegal immigrants from Mexico, South Carolina governor Nikki Haley told Meet the Press's Chuck Todd she understands Trump's "frustration" but that he needs to watch his "tone." Haley went on to say "we" all need to be respectful of each other and nix the "harsh" language. Offensive talk "hurts people," and it's "just not necessary."

At the risk of sounding like Paul Krugman — who returns to a handful of cherished topics over and over again in his New York Times column — I want to revisit one of my hobby horses, which I most recently raised in my discussion of Hobby Lobby. My own cherished topic is this: Liberalism's decline from a political philosophy of pluralism into a rigidly intolerant dogma. The decline is especially pronounced on a range of issues wrapped up with religion and sex. For a time, electoral self-interest kept these intolerant tendencies in check, since the strongly liberal position on...

"[The flag] shouldn't represent us in any way," Petty says. "We should be more concerned with why the police are killing black men for no reason"

OVER the past 18 months, Queensland mining employer Jack Trenamen has developed a formula that helps him predict the performance of his new apprentices. The country kids who have worked on mum and dad’s farm from a young age will work hard and appreciate every dollar they get. “You can’t fault ‘em on work ethic,” he says, adding that it shows in their performance. But the ones who come from more affluent areas, whether that be from the big cities where their parents are a bit more well off and happy to give them pocket money, or mining regions where...

The Lake Missoula flood—clues for the Genesis Flood by Michael J. Oard It is difficult to comprehend fully the immense, almost unimaginable power of the Genesis Flood—because of its sheer size. Its vast volume of water would affect the rates of erosion and sediment deposition in ways not comparable to anything happening today. Its retreat would form unique patterns over the entire earth. However, although present-day floods cannot compare, there was a flood large enough to give us a tiny glimpse as to what a gigantic global-scale flood could accomplish in a short time. It is the Lake Missoula flood,1...

Last week the Marxist quasi-dictator of Bolivia, Evo Morales, presented Pope Francis with a gift — a carved wooden hammer-and-sickle cross on which the figure of Christ is crucified. The Vatican announced that the pope had not been informed in advance about the gift. And some commentators said that photos of the pope and Morales show that the pope was actually offended. That was a false — probably wishful — interpretation. The pope himself later announced that he was keeping the hammer-and-sickle crucifix and taking it home, saying, “I understand this work. For me it wasn’t an offense.” And “Vatican...

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued the following statement Monday regarding the Boy Scouts of America resolution for adult leader standards: “As a chartering organization, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has always had the right to select Scout leaders who adhere to moral and religious principles that are consistent with our doctrines and beliefs. Any resolution adopted by the Boy Scouts of America regarding leadership in Scouting must continue to affirm that right.”

There is definitive proof that the besieged Confederate Battle Flag is not and cannot in fact be a so called racist flag. A lot of people do not realize that there is definitive proof because they simply have not looked into the history as closely as they should. I discovered this important tidbit myself about fifteen years ago when I first looked into the topic of the so called Civil War / War Between the States / The War of Northern Aggression. Most people do not realize that different states seceded for different reasons and that they all did not...

Quote: "In early 1955, John Sammons Bell, chairman of the State Democratic Party and attorney for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) suggested a new state flag for Georgia that would incorporate the Confederate Battle Flag. At the 1956 session of the General Assembly, state senators Jefferson Lee Davis and Willis Harden introduced Senate Bill 98 to change the state flag. Signed into law on February 13, 1956, the bill became effective the following July 1." Another: In 1948, the battle flag began to take on a different meaning when it appeared at the Dixiecrat convention in Birmingham as...

On July 7, Father Michael Pfleger, the Coalition for Safe Communities in Chicago, and other gun control plaintiffs filed a lawsuit suggesting gun control is a “civil right” that is violated by a lack of gun laws and regulations in the Chicago-area villages of Riverdale, Lyons and Lincolnwood. The suit claims that “20 percent of guns” found at Chicago crime scenes between 2009 and 2013 were guns legally purchased from gun shops in these villages. Therefore, the suit posits a need for more regulatory oversight of gun stores in Riverdale, Lyons, and Lincolnwood.

Aamer Madhani at USA Today took the easy way out on Friday in covering the sharp increase in murders in many U.S. cities during the first half of this year. He quoted Milwaukee's police chief bemoaning "absurdly weak" gun laws. He noted that "the increased violence is disproportionately impacting poor and predominantly African-American and Latino neighborhoods." He found a university prof to allege that there's a lack of resources to "fund a proactive law enforcement." What rubbish. The fact is that the "broken windows" approach to law enforcement, the "proactive law enforcement" initiative pioneered in New York City under Mayor...

In case you missed it last week, FBI Director James Comey admitted his agency is responsible for Charleston killer Dylann Roof getting his hands on a gun when he ineligible to do so. Roof passed a background check during a firearm purchase, something Comey admitted shouldn't have happened due to a felony charge on his record prior to the purchase. In a meeting with reporters at FBI headquarters, [FBI Director James] Comey said failures in the gun purchase screening system enabled Roof to acquire the weapon used in an attack that authorities have said was motivated by Roof’s racist views,...

Eurozone leaders have agreed to offer Greece a third bailout, after marathon talks in Brussels. Amid one of the worst crises in the EU's history, the head of the European Commission said the risk of Greece leaving the eurozone had been averted. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that after a "tough battle", Greece had secured a "growth package" and debt restructuring. Greece will now have to pass reforms demanded by the eurozone by Wednesday. These include measures to streamline pensions, raise tax revenue and liberalise the labour market. An EU statement spoke of up to €86bn (£61bn) of financing...
